    D_Frost // Q5 build thread [Caractere][HRE][APR][Remus]

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all! I've been lurking in the forums for almost half a year...

Thanks to the many informative posts, I decided to get a Q5 a few months ago and have been having a blast with it!

The Q5 is definitely a great car with lots going for it... then the mod bug hit (I'm sure alot can relate) and this is what I have now...

    Exterior

    Interior

A quick shoutout to Dan at 425 Motorsports for the guidance the whole way... Also many thanks to WuWraps for the interior treatment... if anyone is in the Seattle area, I would wholeheartedly recommend them!

I welcome any feedback/suggestions for what to do next :)

    Thanks!

    ------------------------------
Adding some shots of the build process (thanks again to 425 Motorsports)

    The kit arrives!

    Contents of the kit:

This will add some grunt :)

Getting painted (thanks to Queen City):

    Rear valance:

    Front bumper getting fitted:

    Wheel arches going on:

    Rear valance installed:

    Kit install complete!:

    ----------------------------------
After getting hooked up with some wheels from a buddy (Johnny) at Platte Forme A.G., who worked closely with the awesome guys at HRE, we had a few minutes to get some photos...

The HRE P40 in gunmetal really completed the look!

    --------------------------------

Long overdue update... finally bit the bullet and went with a set of KW Variant 2 coilovers thanks to my good buddy Johnny at Platteforme. With the help of the guys at Achtuning, the Q is now sitting where it should've been a long time ago ;)

    --------------------------------

Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving! :)

Everything was arranged through 425 Motorsports... the kit was painted/installed at Queen City (in Redmond). :)

Thanks to my buddy at Platte Forme A.G., I finally found the wheels (HRE P40)to complete the look. Getting everything fitted just right took some time, but in the end everything was perfect. Totally takes the transformation to the next level...

Car looks great !! I know I was a pain regarding the fitment, but with the Caractere widebody, wanted to make sure we got it right.

    Glad everything turned out!

It's always hard to get fitments right when we don't have the car physically here to measure. But always want to do some do diligence to get it done right.

Nazi eh :) More like Genghis kHan ;)

    Thanks!

The wheels are 20" and the ride is only slightly firmer, but you definitely feel more planted when making turns... just for comparison, Audi does offer a 20" wheel for the Q5 with summer tires :)

Beautiful Q5 D_Frost. Since you have wheel arches, how thick are your wheel spacers?

Didn't run spacers... I opted to order a set of wheels from HRE with custom offsets :)

    For reference: 20x9.5 ET15/10

The new wheels + tires ended up lighter than my stock wheels + tires... didn't get exact weight numbers but can easily tell by picking it up... also helps with unsprung weight ;)

    Little updates...

-License plate filler, plasti-dipped the chrome strips.
-Smoked the silver/alumium trims and roof rail. Now has a dark chrome feel to it, still very visible in daylight but dark in low light...
-The tail lights are also smoked now...
