Most every new post is a topic that could have been addressed if users would just search.

The platform is 10+ years old and the forum is rehashing old business that has been covered many times over. Let's get to some new stuff. And those of you who are new here, use the search function. There's more than enough information about bumper covers, intakes, exhaust, tunes, what color calipers you should choose, and FB steering wheels.

I hear you. But every forum I have been after owning as many cars as I have, they are all the same. I have used the search function here and frankly it really isn't that good. It is Fair at best. Looks like you are an Audi loyalist, so you are going to see things over and over. I also belong to a Mopar forum and you see the same inquiries etc. This forum and many others have helped me solve issues that I encounter and new product news. Just my .02

waht bpd said....the search is there, but if you dont know the right key words that the OP's have used, it makes it difficult.

and sometimes it vague and the real issue isnt addressed until the 3rd or 4th post, which unless you are doing the post keyword search, and not the title, it will never come up.

    most threads are:

Looking for bling for my rear

What they are really trying to say later in the thread:

What are my options for rear apron or rear diffuser on my (specific make and model)

the search wont come up with that unless you tailor your results for post search and not title search

Being new here, I can tell you, the search feature is overrated. If you don’t have the exact keywords you need, you’ll be looking for hours in endless threads. I’ve got enough other stuff going on in life, I don’t have time to do all of that too. If you don’t care for people asking questions, why are you on a forum yourself? You didn’t have questions when you first got here?

i could care less if people ask questions that may or maybe not have been answered before BUT what i'm kinda sick of seeing is people posting on a 3+year old thread saying "did you get it to work" or "did you find the parts?" like those people even remember . in for sale area "those weeks still for sale?" well it was 1 year ago probably gone....

    Couldn’t care less *

And I only use forums these days for research. Definitely the days of being active and posting every day are gone for me. Back in the day with my other car, a WRX and a MK7 GTi I was a bit of a post whore, about 40K in posts between a few forums. Now I post when I have a problem lol.

THIS TIMES A MILLION. I hate having to check the original date before I open a thread because it's from six years ago.

I can understand your points especially if you've been here a while and you've read it all already. you want new and intriguing. As a new person here, it makes me reluctant to post or ask questions because I'm worried about being shamed by people that already found the answer I'm looking for. It hasn't completely stopped me, and I've even searched out a few that really seem to know their stuff and sent PMs, and all have been extremely helpful, one example is THCarpenter above. Sometimes there are problems with searching results in threads that are years old, there could be new things out, or perhaps the things mentioned just didn't work out as expected. I have even read through threads to find they never followed up with results, so you're right back where you started wondering if said experiment is worthwhile. Some of the things are discussed but about a different model car, leaving me to wonder if this would apply the same on mine. Speaking up has already saved me immensely. Yes, it's my own ignorance, but I did a lot of searches on lowering the car, and based on that had already decided on the CETE module. I mentioned it in passing talking about something else, and a member here pointed out that it wouldn't work on my car since I have DRC. Saved me $2k and taught me something I didn't know about my car.

Oh wow. There's a forum I haven't heard of in a long time. I'm still in contact with a lot of the old timers. But...what do you mean become? OT has always been a little special.

That's simply the nature of online forums. You basically pointed out the main issue in your first post, this platform is now 10+ years old. Maybe time to trade in that C7 for a C8?

Another trick with the AZ search function is to enter a user name of one of those very knowledgeable AZ members, in addition to the keyword or tag. For example, if I want to find out about sunroofs exploding from changes in barometric pressure, I would look for "gk1". Echoing others, my suggestion for first time question posters is to provide specific and detailed information and a clear question. That keeps folk like me from taking the thread sideways!

ive been on both sides of the fence. answered questions and asked questions. i have spent hours and hours pouring over threads trying to get knowledge, since im not that great with the search as it drops me to page one of a 30 page thread on a topic i searched for. and although props to op for being active, why does it put a bug up the a** of some people to see a question asked that has been answered by others in the past? if someone doesnt want to help, then move on to the next post. if you are good with the search, than add a couple of links, or just ignore. why some people, and not pointing to A6, just like to throw shade for no reason is baffling to me. no one (except maybe Anthony) owns these forums and the majority of us are just looking to have a little fun with our toys. life is short, enjoy :]

I’m glad it worked out for you. I certainly don’t want to discourage members from asking questions about issues they’re trying to address. It’s just some things can be googled and will take you to an Audizine post. I don’t want anyone to that needs help or pertinent information feel that their inquiry isn’t important.

Generally I find AZ to be the most robust for the mainstream and more common vehicles. But for others like the C5 allroad or 4L Q7, audiworld and other forums have more to offer. For some reason certain models have gained more attention elsewhere. I recently picked up a 4L Q7 and there is a dearth of info on AZ but audiworld happens to be much more helpful. If you are looking at the B series cars, C7,C8 and the SQ5, AZ is the place. Otherwise the other forums are worth looking at. I’ve been through all the B series cars (excluding the B9), C5 and C6 and now a 4L Q7.

Then shut the forums down, cause its all been covered. No need for posts anymore. OR, just don't get butt hurt over people asking questions that couldn't find any answer to or perhaps didn't think too. I know I just searched a topic before posting and found zero results with the few very straight forward search keywords I put in. It's just crazy to let it bother you that people ask questions, there are much larger things in life to worry about.

It doesn't help that there hasn't been much development for these cars beyond the 'one size fits all' canned tunes and some basic bolt on's.

Once people have full control over the ECU (think Hondata or HP tuners on Honda and GM applications), then we will start to see more people going all out and pushing the platform. Until then, we are destined to be stagnant IMO.

I'm sure you know this, but I'll say it anyway. A lot of newbies are just really excited to talk about a new purchase, for many the nicest vehicle they ever had. Making yet another, "Hey what tunes do you suggest?" or "What are you guys doing with your wheels?" or "What issues should I look out for?" post, is just a way for someone that is eager to talk about their new toy with other enthusiasts. Getting actual feedback is way more gratifying than a search, but not necessarily as informative. I'm only couple of months in, and I find myself seeing things that are easily searched, because if I know it, I think anyone would. But I find myself still trying to answer if I can or even searching google or the forum for them for some strange reason. However, this may be the definition of what you're saying happens at the other forum, and I can see how 10 years of that would get frustrating. But it also makes the search less powerful because you have to sift through so many answers on the topic that just tell people that it has been covered and they should search.

A Google fu to get results only from Audizine AND this forum:

    site:audizine.com "C7 A6/S6/RS6 A7/S7/RS7" muffler

    Replace muffler with whatever keywords.

Those who use Firefox can make this a keyword bookmark with a parameter :
    https://www.google.com/search?q=site...7%2FRS7%22+%s&

    My keyword/usage: a6zs muffler

Why other browsers refuse to include this feature is simply damn stupid (or asinine).

People would post less on a 3 year old thread if the OP would post back to say what they did to fix the issue

Most BBS (bulletin board systems) search functions are terrible. This is why internet search became such a profitable business model. As someone eluded to, I think, it may be easier to use a search engine (Google, DuckDuckGo) to search for an Audizine topic using "Audizine" in the search bar, with the thing you're looking for.

I bet if you searched you'd fine out that even this post already exists.

This community is becoming more like Audiworld every day...

As someone whos searched for answers and havent been able to find definitive answers, or an answer is 5 years old and theres a new process, i think you are kind of bitching about people trying to find new information. I cant tell you the amount of times i searched something, found an answer, only to find out theres been three new ways. Idk this post just sounds insensitive because I’m not a wrench turner and I’m an extreme novice with cars so i often ask questions as i encounter things.

Also go ahead and search exhaust options and try to comb thru 102837574920102836659202 threads, with half of the thread being derailed and now talking about ecu tunes or brake calipers

    THIS.

Many forums are full of people posting about their challenge and well-meaning responses from those who THINK they have a solution. But there is often a huge lack of definitive or conclusive information.

Kind of like "stump the chumps" for those who remember the Tappet Brothers.
