Angry Still not able to set Key User in our new 2022 Q5. Anyone else have issues?

It's been about a month now and still unable to get this working.

Car won't accept the Vehicle Code. Keeps throwing back an error message.

Dealer said I needed a software update. Did that and still not working.

Supposedly without this we cannot get the wifi hotspot to work and none of the other nifty MyAudi features.

    Anyone else having issues?

Yep, same here. Picked our 2022 up this past weekend. Didn’t work at the dealer and hasn’t worked since I’ve tried multiple times since.

Yes, since Sept 30 delivery. I have an appointment tomorrow to have a software upgrade to the "Con Box" that supposedly fixes the issue, per the dealer and per some posters on AudiWorld. I'll see, and post.

I had the same issue in May when I got the car. The dealer was unable to set it up because the Audi backend system wasn't working. It took me 5 weeks to set up the key user but eventually perseverance paid off. I kept bugging the dealer every other day until they fixed it.

Have you tried resetting your MyAudi password?

After a week of trying to get the car's MMI logged in that finally fixed it for me.

    Seriously.

Password or PIN? Dealer had me reset PIN but it did not fix it.

Just back from the dealer. No joy. Sales got an email Monday that they are working on a solution but they do not have any resolution nor any ETA. When Service hooked up the car (early '22 Q5) to Audi they had no software update eligible, They had done a couple ConBox updates earlier but that did not resolve the problem. Why I'm not eligible, I don't know. I think we just need to wait it out, and it's certainly nothing that detracts from driving or enjoyment of all the other services. I asked about the second key--they have not had any customers get one, back to the earliest affected, and no word on the street from Audi. I may try the password reset suggested above for Key User.

The actual password for your MyAudi account. What you log into the phone app with.

Oddly enough I'm now getting a message in the MyAudi iOS app that it's not linked to my vehicle but it's been working for months.

Maybe there is something else going on now.

EDIT: I went out to the car and I'm still logged in, it was working fine. I hadn't driven the car since last night so it recognized the last login date as today.

The phone app is updating fuel level and door status properly so no clue what the error message is about.

    Tried that, but no luck.

Very sorry to hear. Well, it's actually good to know that it's not just me.

True, it doesn't ruin the overall driving enjoyment of the vehicle, but with a wife and an 8 year old that have become accustomed to having wifi in the car...first world problems, I know.

FIXED - Got a fix for this, but it will depend on how good your sales associate is.

So I told my SA I couldn't set the key user still after I took delivery this past weekend. We tried to set it up at the dealership, but didn't work. He made some calls and figured it out.

Basically, the sales associate has to set everything up in the Portal. They will need your username and password as well, so he can log into the account and set it up. I'm not exactly sure what he did on his end, but whatever it was it required my password. He said the vehicle tag we get with the vehicle code is no longer needed and we can't set key users ourselves...which is odd because what if you need to set a new key user, but anyway, just glad it works now.

So to recap, here are the steps I took.
    - I set up user account in MyAudi app.
    - Then did something in the app for dealer verification...not sure what it was, but the SA had to go into his portal and approve
    - Then we went out to the vehicle and I logged in...tried to set key user using the vehicle code and it did not work
    - Then tried to set key user using the MyAudi app, still didn't work
    - Took some tips here by resetting password, logging out and back in, still did't work
    - So, mySA calls and says he can fix it, but needs my username and password
    - I sent him the info, he did something in his portal, and now it works. I had to delete my user in the car because I forgot my password again, so not sure if you'll have to do that.

So, bottom line it's on your dealer/SA to set the key user up. So give them a call or swing by and let them know it has something to do with their portal.

Please report back if this is the actual fix so we can spread the word. I saw one post where an owner was actually being told some hardware had to be replaced in his Audi to fix this.

Sounds odd and rather contradictory but I'm not doubting you and anything is worth a try at this point. I'll pass this along to my guy at the dealership and see what happens.

    Thanks!

Agree. When he told me I didn't think it would work. Once he completed whatever he needed to do on his end, everything worked like it should. I didn't have to put the vehicle code in anywhere...just logged in via my vehicle and it recognized me as the key user automatically.

    Spoke with my salesman.

He had another customer come in this morning with the same issue, and they finally got it to work via the "portal method". I'll be going in on Monday to do the same.

Supposedly this has been affecting a number of early '22 builds. There was also an outage with the portal for a week or two, this being the message...

    As of 12/12/2021 8:30AM EST

**OUTAGE** Customer registration fails on Step 1. There is no current ETA for a correction.
So, guess that's fixed now and we can finally get our cars fully functional.
