Possibly trying out some brands/products for the first time... MTM & iPE

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Nearly two decades, and 9 different Audis, there are still brands I've never tried/ran. I'm excited about these two...

    - MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer)
    - iPE (Innotech Performance Exhaust)

Anybody have any current or previous experience with either of these two?

More info from me in the coming weeks.

Anthony- I've worked with MTM for a decade plus. Sometimes directly with MTM Germany and sometimes with a US distributor, they had one that went under maybe 7-8 years ago so I moved to dealing with them directly in Germany. They have a new US distributor and they also seem good, but I have yet to purchase through them yet.

    Haven't used iPE before.

    More stuff in the works?

Looking forward to pics and maybe a sound/video clip of the exhaust? We're about three months away from AWE's exhaust kit, but I'm interested in the iPE as well. Would you mind sharing the cost of the kit and labor to install it?

Yup, there will be plenty of photos and videos. Both here and on the Audizine social media channels; Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. That's part of my deal with them. A representative should be on the forums in the coming days to better answer any cost and availability questions, and I'll have an idea of install time and price in a week or so.

I am getting the cat-back version, but they do also offer a full turbo-back setup with or without a cat. There are also various tip options, and I went with the black chrome version.

    More soon!

I had been harping on AWE for over a year now about them doing a system, and I finally gave up! I actually wasn't even aware that iPE had one for our cars until Jose at MTM mentioned I should check them out.

Good stuff. I like the idea of valved exhaust, but from the install manual, looks like that feature adds a lot of labor of running vacuum, power and signal lines, since the kit comes with some kind of electronic controller that plugs into the ODB2 port, with functionality beyond a simple on/off switch for the valves. That all sounds pretty expensive.

There seems to be another valved exhaust for the A7 with S7 diffuser, from Poland:

Yes, that's my only concern as well. I'm still trying to find a shop near me willing to even tackle it! The shops I'd normally go to are over an hour away, and with the continuing COVID issues I'm trying to keep it more local. Hopefully will lock something in by next week. Until then, I'll have a short unboxing video and photos up soon.

Will there be an advertisement post for the iPE exhaust? I'd like to find out how much for the kit.

Very nice progress. With the MTM tune, the performance should be better than what the S7 offers in Europe.

iPE makes some killer stuff. I have their exhaust on my 458 spider, and it’s nothing short of amazing.

How was the power/smoothness compared to stock. I have an S6 I see they have a tune for it that bumps from 444 to 532. My recent negative experience with upgrading a perfectly fine car has me nervous about sending off my ECU and having to send it back if I don't like the tune.

I sure hope so! I'll have to get on them to participate. They may be waiting for my full review thread...

I must say, I was very impressed with the build quality. These days, you often never quite know what you're going to get. Whether you spend 500 bucks, or $5000!

I too was nervous about taking the ECU out of my car, never knowing exactly what is going to happen...to the car or the ECU! Luckily it was quite easy, and the turnaround extremely quick.

I've tuned many a car over the years, with varying results. I am so far EXTREMELY impressed with both the increase and smoothness in power. It now feels very much like a stock S7. I can't even imagine how fast your tuned S6 would feel!

Anybody considering the MTM flash? Talked to the techs, it will get flagged which I are less about than drivability. Left the question on the RS5 forum on AW but no response yet.

The MTM guys have a tune already but nobody will contact me regarding drivability. Obviously I want to talk to somebody who has it before I void my warranty one month into this lease.

I saw that on APR’s website. If you want to go for ethanol then you can get quite a bit more power. The MTM product doesn’t say you have to change your fuel. I guess that is a question to ask. I am intrigued by the warranty but for $2400 to get a few extra horsepower that I rarely use doesn’t seem like that much more except for the warranty. To get 100 for $1600 through MTM sounds more intriguing but again you don’t get the powertrain warranty. On my last car I was told that the ethanol in a non-flex fuel car would burn out my cats. I’ve got to do some research.

Loving mine so far. Massive increase in power and still super smooth. Not a single CEL came on but I was told that could happen, then go away after a bit.

I can't imagine their S6/S7 tune would be any different, drivability wise.

MTM C8 RS6 Avant "Stage 3" 1,001 PS (987 HP)/958 lb-ft, turbo upgrade (larger turbine shaft/impeller/compressor wheel/reinforced axial bearings/larger inlet), Vmax removal, larger intake hoses, ECU conversion, TCU mod., price "TBD."

Maybe Jose from MTM USA can chime in with details. I think MTM Germany are on summer holiday, but this looks more than an appetizer and like a menu for the main course.....

Ahh the "crème de la crème" this package has us VERY excited.
The best details I can give you are already on our website. We also have limited info in terms of pricing. All I can say right now:

Is it going to be expensive? Yes. It going to be very fast? More than you think.
As someone who had a Talladega R and I ended up paying basically retail my self for it, due to our pricing structure changing so much when I bought that car and created MTM USA and now. That car was insanely fast, this new C8 RS6 will be a monster compared to that car. Excited to get these kits out there.

Also note this kit will work on D5 S8, C8 RS6/RS7, 4M RSQ8 and Urus. Working on potentially Bentayga but not enough market for it at the moment.

Next week when MTM open and we can structure the package for the US cars. There I will be able to provide you with a better idea on price.

I can however share this pictures.
    C4 RS6 MTM and C8 RS6 MTM (30 Year difference)

Also sorry about the inactivity on the forum. I had to be out of office a good while, and also have limited staff. Thanks Covid.

I think you have emailed a couple of our guys. Sadly the few C8 S6/S7 we have done are all local customers who are not very tech savvy :(

    Update:
I sent an email just now to a few RS5 customer, those are younger guys who are usually more open to this. Hope that helps.

Priorities for MTM: Reliability, Driveability, Power. In that order.
