B6 A4 vs. Volvo S60 T5

Me and my friend with Volvo S60 T5 went for a spin tonight. We went to one industrial area which has a perfect strip where you can do 1/4+ mile run.

We started from rolling (~20mph). 1st and 2nd gear I pulled him almost 2 car lenghts, but then on 3rd gear he started reaching me and then after 80mph he passed me.

We did also some freeway testing as well, starting from 50mph. 3rd and 4th gear we were even but then after 100mph he pulled me 2-3 car lengths.

Here are the setups:

B6 A4 (my car):
- Exhaust, FMIC, Revoed KO4, injectors, manual

Volvo S60 T5 (Anssi's car):
- IPD Exhaust, BSR chip (http://www.bsrab.se/products/n36/t514/), automatic

In light of numbers, he should've beat me, which he did. Chipped Volvo T5 (<2004) puts 299hp/301lbs-ft tq to the crank. Mine is about 265chp/270lbs-ft tq. He's a FWD and I'm Quattro. The weights are although the same.

Stock Volvo T5 would be left behind nicely!

It was all good fun once again.

He was pulling ahead on first and second only when I was using automatic. With manual shifting we were quite even till I blew his socks off

My car is torque limited until third gear, and sucks ass at launch.

Oula's car is sweet

the T5 isn´t a 2.0T ? I thought that the 2.5T was the S60R and V70R... those are AWESOME engines.. can only be beaten by the 2.7T...

New Volvo S60 T5's has a 2.5L engine (>2005), but the older one has 2.4L engine. With a high pressure turbo.

They can be beaten by a 1.8t A4 with a Stage 3 kit or big turbo, say 28R and up.

it may be true but this site shows the manuel is fast but once u get to the automatic transmisson just as oula raced it lowers torque and lower 0-60 times http://www.media.volvocars.com/site_..._V70R_JAN_2003(4).pdf this other site says its 3,700 lb which is not nearly the same weight... http://www.cs.indiana.edu/~tkeahey/s60r/rraptor.html

Volvo S60 T5 and Volvo S60 R are two different cars. In Volvo 850 platform there used to be T5-R.

T5 = 250hp (<2004), 260hp (>2005)
R = 300hp

From a roll is my specialty as well, I'm FWD too. Off the line it's spin city. How do you fair against the E46 M3?

I have not raced an M3 after tuning, but the big boys say there's no contest There sure wasn't when stock.

Yeah, sure I can come to see youse at Clairmont, I live nearby. But it'll have to wait till May, I'm traveling. Maybe I'll bring my wife's A4 2.8, just for spite! Keep the Swedish Monster under wraps.

I'll aks GotBalls with his black T5 MT for support. He races at Qualcomm, usually.
