Wish I had an extra $5k. I'm sure this setup will be very nice and would love an actual customer review in a couple months!

Look at a BT setup, you would be a lot more than $5k so I think this is overall worth it.

Not sure how this came off rude, I was simply stating they had answered him, I've missed tons of stuff between these two threads and it can be rather difficult to compile the information. :) Just trying to help out.

awesome. Can't wait till the dyno numbers start coming out. This won't be one of those upgrades where the only good numbers are magically from the vendor either

Oh, I agree completely that it is both cheaper than a BT setup, and will definitely be worth it. But, at least on my current salary (and I imagine most people on here), $5k for anything is a lot of money. However, if I had $5k that I could spend on the car, I would be buying this without a doubt (unless I decided to sell my car and get something with a manual transmission, which is the only thing other than performance I find lacking in my car).

Dont bother, when you do the injectors use gm engine top cleaner on the valves and blast the carbon off. Then maintain the cleaned valve with seafoam. Better yet run meth after there cleaned! Boom

This is the full DIY on how to remove carbon and do your injectors! It doesn't have to be carb cleaner. I would prefer to use engine top cleaner as it is meant for internal engine passages.

I just went all in. I chose the send core in later option, install hardware, and new plugs. My total was 2,818 after shipping. If my core is in good shape, I'll get 700 back in a couple months. Now I need to get me some s3 injectors and a CAI. I probably won't have time for install for a month or so, but wanted to avoid back order. Plus, I figured the more I thought about it, the less likely I'd be to pull the trigger.
I have a feeling this will be a fun journey.

^ that is very helpful for the injector part, but i feel like the BG solution go the valves more clean in the right places no?

also, RAI, if we get s3 injectors or rs4 injectors and do the install, provided we install them correctly and everything we shouldn't have a problem running the car right? even tho the injectors flow more, the amount in which they flow is controlled by the ecu so while it has potential, it will just run the normal amount? or would we have to flash it to accept the injectors?

^^^ RAI advised me that RS4s might work, but the strongly recommend S3. For a little bit more, I'm going to go S3.
I was also told that I can run GIAC K04 flash or even 2+ until unitronic's specific KOR file is in the DB.

In hind sight, I would've had much more fun buying a slightly used s4, had I known the money I would be spending on this car to make it just as powerful. Its about the same anyways. Granted the gas mileage is better with a 4-banger, but the time, effort, and investment and dealing with fucking retarded worthless shops that fuck your car up consistently and make you foot the bill isn't worth the modding headache to me. I probably wouldn't sleep for days if I decided to upgrade the turbo like this. Id be afraid my damn car would just explode with me in it.

    Sore subject...

RAI please chime in specfically on the injectors. And why you chose the S3's. It just seems odd that you'd suggest the injectors, that seem harder to come by. I may have missed it, but I don't see any sponsors selling the S3 injectors, while I've seen the RS4 injectors advertised. Is there any chance you can run the RS4 injectors in your test car to check their performance, or if you've done that already, share the findings you came up with while they were on the car.

First, we didnt choose the injector, the software companies do. In my experience the reason is simple, the s3 injector is easier to tune and has NO negative drawback. The RS4 tunes i have seen are good, but there is a draw-back related to pulse. To simplify, the rs4 injector will cause you to run rich during different load events, the most noticeable is smoking at idle and black smoke soot around tailpipe.

Thanks for the intel, do you have any places you'd suggest to find S3 injectors? It seems the bottleneck could begin, as people try to source them for your kit. Most places I've found only carry the RS4 injectors. And the S3's tend to be hit or miss on ebay or various forum FS sections.

Doing additional searches will yield other quick sale prices. A NJ VW dealer offered these for $472 last april on vortex for example

Aside from that, the RS4 does flow more, however, does so at an angle. At the level of power we're talking here (300whp), the S3 injector is well within in limits. No need for the RS4 and its crazy spray. The S3 is clearly the better solution sub-400cHP

More notes on this thread: BG cleaner is great. I did that as part of my spring maintenance. Smoother, better MPG, and it seemed to pick up a PSI or two in boost. I recommend

RAI first congratulation for the release!

What was the modification of the car that dyno at 280whp. The only dyno a saw was your best dyno with a built head equiped car. Could you please post that dyno?

Please someone buy this and dyno it using APR K04 software so I know what I should expect ;)

RAI only gets you a turbo. You still need to bring your own software, HPFP, injectors, exhaust.....factor that in and you are closing in on a BT.

VAST has much more potential and if you have seen what they can do with the 2.7tt their 2.0t is only going to get better.

We are talking 400whp and climbing on the VAST kit. With the RAI you are basically topped out.

From my understanding (and I could easily be wrong) with the RAI kit, you can safely run high HP and TQ (compared to stock) numbers and not have to build your engine/swap out mulitple expensive internals. So while BT kits may hit 400awhp+ the cost in getting there seems to continue to add up. And doesn't make the car as conducive to daily driving. This seems like a kit for those that aren't going for the huge numbers BT's provide. And I know me being a TIP, going for 400+ awhp doesn't seem like the best idea.

The VAST avant is putting down 400awhp with stock internals. Last I heard they were going to keep pushing it till it popped. Then we will know how strong the 2.0t really is.
