Just saw "House of Flying Daggers" ("Shi mian mai fu")

This is Yimou Zhang's latest work, the director of "Hero" (aka "Ying xiong").

It's a very similar type of tragic love story, laced with martial arts, wire work, beautiful scenery/cinematography, and fantastic special effects/CGI.

The most familiar face is Zhang Ziyi, the beautiful Chinese actress who was also in "Hero" and "Crouching Tiger".

Definitely worth seeing for fans of the genre. Not sure when it'll be coming into regular US release though, but I am sure it will be in the coming months.

Yeah, you will enjoy it, Jonah. The whole love story is a bit more obvious and almost too forced in this one, but it's a beautiful movie with some amazing scenes nonetheless.

Bump, since it's now being "officially" released in the States and there me some peeps seeing it soon.

Be prepared for an even greater emphasis on the love story than that of Hero. Not quite as good though, Hero has more (and better) fighting/martial arts scenes.
