    Question Bulb Question??

I knew the rear signal turn is 7507 and the Backup is 7506. They looks like the 1157, and 1156 type. I am trying to upgrade the bulbs with 1157 and 1156. Is that ok to do so?? I am still concerning about the fitment of those bulbs and will it affect the stock wires, and life on the bulbs?
    thank you all members!!

The 7507, 7506, 1157, and 1156 do indeed all look about the same, but they're not. There are subtle differences between the bulbs, and I'd stick with what the manufacturer specifies.

    if i recall correctly...

    7507 and 7506 are interchangeable
    1157 and 1156 are interchangeable
    however 7507, 7506 are not interchangeable with 1157, 1156

i think the difference in the last digit is the number of filaments on the bulb...the last digit 7 bulbs are dual filament and the last digit 6 bulbs are single filament. if initally the bulb is dual filament, that means there are two ways to turn it on, and possibly different intensities, such as the brake light when you turn on your headlights and then when you actually brake.

the dual filament bulbs will fit in the single filament bulb but you may have to shave one of the filament connectors off. single filament bulbs will fit in the dual filament slots, but you may lose one of the lights and get a light out error in the dash.

in the end...you're best bet is using the original bulb size.

The wattages may be off too...maybe. I don't know enough about the 1156 and 1157 to say for sure.

If you use 1156/1157, they will work and be error free but last about half as long. the wattages are different and you will end up melting the fillament posts and eventually the fillament itself. I know it sounds wierd that the post (thicker) would melt before the fillament (thiner) would burn out, but they will. Stick with the 7506/7507
