Looks like a fun build! Your off to a good start. I probably would of went with the jhm testpipe and jhm intercooler though.

A test pipe is a test pipe. JHM is great and has nice craftsmanship, but so does 034. I went with 034 because they saved me almost $100.

Parts looks good, do you plan to rebuild the engine at anytime?

I was thinking the same thing. It's doable without them but you will not be getting the full potential of the K04.

I was thinking about rods at first but I dont have the resources to do it myself right now, there is none tuning shops in my town just regular car service shops and it would probly cost more than a new engine to get it done here.
Im gonna do some more research to see if theres a way to get it done, or I might try to get a second engine so I can experiment myself and get someone to swap it for me.
I hope as long I dont do too agressive timing and mild boost in the lower rpm range I will be good for now

Not necessarily true. A 2" test pipe will not perform like a 3" test pipe. A 3" test pipe with a 2" ID DP flange will not perform like a true 3" test pipe. Our JHM 3" Test Pipe was designed for optimal exhaust flow and has been used on multiple record setting 1/4 mile runs

034's a true 3" test pit and if the flange isn't completely open I'll take the die grinder to it. Stop trying to make me feel bad Jake. I'm a modder on a buget. But in all seriousness it really is the same. Optimal flow you may have but your flow loss is so minimal in most configurations that you will never notice it. I'll even bust out some thermal dynamics if I have too.

You don't need an upgraded LPFP, if you ever do replace it, just stick with the A4 one, the rs4 is the same, and teh TTRS which is the only upgrade that is OEM is just a pain in the dick.

Not trying to make you feel bad, 034 makes great products! I just have seen bad test pipes out there (random companies and ebay) which is why I quoted that specific part of your post :)

Yup the a4 pump will flow plenty, I've been running it on my gtx2867r without issue. I recently bought a TTRS pump because I wanted to flow more fuel for e85 tuning, and it was not a fun swap. You would expect the parts to be completely interchangable, but they are not, the basket is different the level sensor is different, the fuel line connections are different, the basket mounting points are different. Not a fun project lol.

I'm exciting to see what you can do with the k04 though. I would definitely put rods on the christmas list though.

Is there any known science behind when these OEM rods break? I really want to push the K04 to its boost limits, I want to peak at 20-22psi, Im thinking about retarding the timing and boost before 3000rpm to have a conservative tune.
I havnt done so much research on this part yet, I will take it in small steps in the beginning to see how it behaves, its my first time to install a turbo kit and tune a turbo engine so Im not gonna rush it.

Basically the thing that the K04 does it produce a ton of torque really quickly, so you need to retard that until the engine gets moving. Then you can run pretty high boost. There is someone on here running stock rods with a K04. Mec knows quite a bit about it too.

That. The massive torque spike is what kills the rods. If you can ramp up boost smoothly until above 3000rpms to flatten off the torque, then you'll probably be fairly safe with OEM rods. The trick is doing a conservative tune like that.

Poor tuning also kills rods. You get guys who are like, I needz all the timings and all the boosts for alll torks!!!

It takes away some of the fun part but that would be the cons for not doing rods. It will be more fun than my k03 at least for a few weeks until my brains G-trims get fully adjusted and I want to do a BT setup :P

OP good looking build. Seeing the ER FMIC, reminds me of missing out on picking one up when it was 50% off.

W/M: Quality that won't break the bank: http://www.alcohol-injection.com/en/173-diesel

SnowPerformance and Coolingmist are also legit options, just more expensive. And of course Aquamist but that's $$$$!!!!!
