Drive Auto Works "Mini-Build": Our Shop A7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all! We wanted to share a "mini-build" of sorts of our Audi A7 shop car. It's a 3.0T Prestige car, with the brown interior (which we love, and sought out). We've had the car for a few years, and while it has excelled at transporting us (and clients) to and from the shop, we felt it was time to enhance a bit. We wavered (for a while) over what to do, debating the merits of going air ride vs. coil overs vs. lowering springs, what kind of wheels, etc. After much deliberation, we laid out a plan and began.

We started with a tune from our friends at APR...

…and added the APR Supercharger Pulley upgrade.

With the "go" done, we needed to proceed with the "low". After contemplating installing an air ride setup, we called up our friends at Eibach and got a set of lowering springs, which suit the needs of the car best.

We ordered the A7 with the optional 20" wheels, and while they looked great with the subtle drop, the car screamed for something different...

…so we got in touch with the guys at Vossen and got a set of 20" VFS2's wrapped in Hankook tires.

The final result came out great! Nothing too wild, just a nice upgrade for our daily!

Thanks for letting us share - happy to hear any feedback from you guys!

Looks good, but it doesnt look that low, it actually looks raised compared to a sport suspension A7.

It looks great. Nice to see a "regular" C7 get some love around here. I'd like to do that to my A6 3.0

The 20" vossens look great. I had mentioned in another thread, I saw someone with 22" Vossens on their S7. WTF was my reaction. Beautifully done work. Quick question.. Yours is not the conventional approach for the pulley swap.. Right? Any comparisons?

Thanks! It's not that low - the springs only lowered it about an inch (which is what we were going for). The car looks a bit lower in person than in the pictures.

Thanks! The "regular" C7's are great in stock format - we like to think this improved upon an already great platform/package.

Do you have a link to the thread? Curious to see them. The 20"s are about as big as we felt comfortable going in NJ - the already bad roads took a further beating last winter, and haven't really been repaired properly - if the sidewall was any smaller, we would be pushing our luck!

Correct, the pulley install isn't the conventional approach, even for us (on every other B8/C7/Q7 we've done the upgrade on, the charger stayed in the car). We had a small oil leak coming from the back of the motor - since we were doing the pulley swap, we pulled the unit to give us easier access to trace the oil leak (kind of killed two birds with one stone). Thankfully, APR makes it so that we don't have to do this on every pulley install - much quicker doing it with the unit on the car!

I didnt post a picture coz I didnt take one. The owner would have punched me- pretty sure. It was a black S7 with rose gold 22" vossens. One more inch and it would have gotten as high as the Q5. The only good thing he did was getting the Stage 1 APR

    Very tasteful, and sexy mods...

How's it feel now with the pulley and APR? Like a different car?

Any pics with the stock wheels on the eibachs?

It feels like a completely different car. Not quite as fast (or dramatic) as an S7, but it takes the 3.0T to the next level. The base 3.0T is a great engine, but the tune and pulley turns it up to 11, if you will. And this carries across the rest of the platforms - whether its the S4, Q7, or A6/A7 - the difference is really noticeable, but not excessive (if that makes sense).

Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures with the stock wheels and Eibachs - we knocked this all out in a day, so it was one thing after another. We'll probably throw the OEM wheels back on for the winter, so we'll grab some pictures then. Thanks for the kind words!

Bumping this up - after almost four years in our fleet, we've decided to part ways with our beloved A7 to make way for some new projects. The car is being sold with the tune, pulley, wheels, and springs, and is in mint condition. If anyone is interested, please feel free to reach out, or contact Signature Pre-owned directly.
