For those of you who want to go K04

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just saw in a news feed that APR is offering a COMPLETE K04 kit for $1,999 Some of you East Coast guys probably already jumped on this, but the guys on the West Coast didn't get the chance. I guess you have to go to Fastivus to get this pricing though. If this was the price before I got my REVO tune, I would've jumped on it without question. The RAI kit is pretty tempting though. Decisions decision... Just thought I'd let some of you guys know, in case you need a kit that will pass smog etc.

    That's a nice price.

Fastivus, LOL. One letter too long for an awesome vanity plate.

That's a pretty good deal. Oh well, hopefully RAI gets the "red label" kit out soon and it goes for a good value.

Pretty sure this is for the VW / Audi A3 config and NOT for the b8. If not, then I would be very intrigued!

Ya it says any K03 equipped car...maybe it's not for the B8? I don't see why though. I thought the S3K04 kit for the transverse engine was the same as the kit for the longitudinal engines, just different programming.

That's a great price if it really does work with our 2.0T. Has anybody gotten a hold of APR regarding this to confirm? Sounds like it's only for A3, TT, etc. I'm still probably going to wait to see what other options pop up in the future (RAI, CTS, etc.) but its nice to know this APR KO4 kit can be had for around $2K during events like waterfest, festivus, etc...

The longitudinal K04 setup is still at 324hp/349tq. APR just posted the traverse version of our 2.0TFSI K04 setup. 346hp/377tq. On their dyno, it shows 323whp/362wtq. The kit is comprised of parts from the TT-S.

Yeah they were offering it at Waterfest a few weeks ago...hopefully they come back with this same deal at Waterfest 2013....Im already saving up. I did jump on the Stage 2+ with free on-site install. Amazing how that HFC and D/P really gets that Turbo spooling...got it done then sought forgiveness from the wife when I got home, She says she "likes like the new sound" :-)

I have not seen this graph from APR before. It looks far more promissing than the previous K04 on their site. They're also quoting WHP/WTQ instead of crank, which is weird since APR usually quotes Crank. Maybe they have made a huge improvement and none of us saw it after we got tired of asking for it. But it is not for our engines, since we're TFSI (not TSI), so we'll see.

Still, I'm going to wait for RAI to see what their Red/Black label come out like before choosing, but the known safety or APR is nice and the gains are now much bigger than before.

on the apr site it still states 313/367 (crank as per arin). basically no real reason to go stgIII/K04 yet since StageII+ is more than adequate and the better option in terms of hp/$.

that dynograph is not accurate. most people who have dyno'd put out between 250 to 280 whp with the k04

unless you are running meth/alcohol + high octane map, then maybe you'd see those numbers

Under the chart it still says 313/367 but graph says 324/349. I remember it was originally 313/367 when I looked a long time ago but it seems the graph has changed.

I wonder if it is possible to get the same ECU mapping for the B8 A4, as they share the same engine, with different positioning.

That still looks better than it actually was awhile ago. Still, I'm going to see what RAI or CTS Turbo come up with first.

The K04 kit on sale is for the Transverse engines. The reason it doesn't work on the A4 is the fitment of the inlet and outlet hoses. If we make new ones, and they cost the same as the existing kit, it's possible we could sell you that one instead.

The new turbo kit release is for the 2.0 TSI/TFSI TRANSVERSE engine with Audi Valvelift. This is the same as your engine, just mounted differently. It's only in the new Audi TT at the moment.

I've listed wheel and crank figures.

Your wheel figures will A L W A Y S be lower than the GTI/TT/A3 ETC because you have a quattro all wheel drive system that has more drivetrain loss. If you have a tiptronic, it will be even lower.

If you want more power, just install an intercooler. Goodspeed did and made 330 HP on crappy 91 octane fuel in the middle of the summer:

Yes Sergeant, you actually do have more WHP/WTQ than us quattro guys..less drive train loss. FWD also has less drive train loss than RWD cars too.

My stage 2 B6 CVT is quicker than a quattro stage 2 B6 with quattro, but it isn't able to handle as much torque either. That's the only reason I never went BT with it.

I could've sworn we talked about this at the meet lol That's why your car is better than mine.

But going back to what Arin said, it sounds like APR could do more work and improve what the K04 can do for our engine. Question is, why not? They just need to change hoses? With all of us rabid for a much better BT kit, why not do this work and win the day?

Arin - can you please post the new official APR map for our K04 upgrade and then tell us what it will take to motivate APR to do the work above to get to the Transverse #'s?

Most likely because APR is working on a true stage 3 kit for the b8 as we speak.

I wish they'd tell us then. Most of us want more power and want APR, but there's nothing at all coming from Arin on an improved K04 or Stage III. The door is wide open now and RAI looks to be racing towards the opening in first place.

I wouldn't bet on it. It seems they are content in satisfying stage 1/2 owners, and a mild K04 option but anyone wanting more will most likely need to look elsewhere .
