    MNAudi101's Build/Journal thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So seeing how a couple have started and I always wanted to do one, I am starting my build thread/journal and will be updating it along the way.* I have had my car since last July and there have been many changes to it that id like to share and maybe get some input on it.

( Sorry for the very large pictures I clicked post before I saw how big they were and now I dont know how to resize them )

This was my first car before my B6, it was a 1998 A4 2.8, it had 17 Avus wheels, and a whole interior swap from a 2001 A4 such as radio and center council, here is the last and only picture I have of her.

This is what I replaced it with :: 2003 Audi A4 1.8TQ Dolphin grey with platinum interior ( July 2011)

My first mod was to get rid of the small exhaust tips and get some that filled out the cut outs a little better.* (July 2011)

    before:

    After: went with 3.5"

My next this was tinting the tail lights ( I taped off the reverse lights) and then I got a M3 lip spoiler, also I dipped my front grilles and my back rings ( tails= (Sept 2011) (M3 lip spolier= Oct 2011)

My next purchase was some wheels to get me buy, they are 17in celebration wheels I got a deal on (Nov 2011)

This is how she sat for the first winter

Around christmas time I picked up a set of these (Dec 2011)
    S4 door blades

Coming into spring I thought my interior needed some work so I resprayed my peeling headlight switch and wrapped my interior trim with grey ultra suede. ( April 2012)

And gave my shift area a good freshening up (April 2012)

towards the end of the spring I finally got out of the 4x4 status and got some ultrasport springs and shocks, I want to go lower now so I will be looking for something in the near future. Also I gave my wheels a new touch with some paint ( April/May 2012)

Gave the calipers some new paint and logos ( April/May 2012)

This is how she was for about 2 or 3 months before I found these from a local MNAudi member and couldn't resist,* I have always had these wheels in my heart. 18in B6 Avus wheels (June 2012)

I ran this set up for another 2 or 3 months. I also hardwired my Garmin Nuvi GPS (June 2012)

It came time that I was a little bored with the silver Avus wheels and wanted to try something different, so I went to my local Ace Hardware and picked up a couple cans of white plasti dip and dipped my wheels white. I fell in love with them all over again. (July 2012)

The last to things I have recently done to the car are my custom MNAudi license plate holder (August 2012)

And most recently I did the B7 key fob mod (August 2012)

I also got it tinted just a couple days ago so Ill throw up a picture tomorrow (August 2012)

Also forgot to add that I have s4 headlights as well that I picked up from a local guy

In the near future I plan on to get my lowers painted and to go lower with either springs or coils,* I know coils are way way better but I dont know if I will have the money. Going to school very soon so we will see.*

Good thread. You don't have a lot of random shit that I can't understand (as someone who wouldn't know where to start when getting under the hood). I have hopes of doing a lot of the things you did (exhaust tips, USP/coilovers, calipers, few sets of wheels, etc.).. I just have to get around to paying for them. You got a subscription from me; I want to see how your car looks during it's progression.

Looks good man. Glad to see another DG. I really like the white dip on your wheels, they look nice in the pics. Also glad you seem to be doing things correct and not half assed. Bummer you got an auto :(

I've been through some pretty abnormal suspension setups...but because of that I can safely say that if you want lower than what you've got, I'd save the money for some coilovers. I was set on many different combinations, but I still see coilovers in my future. They don't have to cost a lot of money either. I've seen used variants for as low as $400 and even now AMI has STs for under $800. If you're not in a rush, just hold out for deals. Sponsors on this site are good about amazing offers around holidays...and Labor Day weekend is coming up.

Just keep up the good work man.

Thanks guys being a college student it will be a long thread and I am going to be going with coils, I always thought "Do it right or do it twice" About the Auto I really wished for a manual but I could resist on the price 6k for it with 90 something thousand miles and all work done such as timing belt water pump. it was a woman's car from the city and she brought it to the dealer every time. I also forgot to say that I dipped my back rings white to go along with my wheels

here is a picture of the S4 headlights and the tint that I got, I got the legal limit here in Minnesota of 50% I didnt want to deal with the police. the picture taken is bad the car needs to be cleaned

  6. #6
Wow your tint limit is 50%? That flat out sucks. Here in Utah, I believe the limit is 20% or 25%. I'm probably going 15-18% when I have it done. It's also good to see another college student who isn't handed everything like I've seen too many times on this forum. Keep it up!

I totally understand that. I'm still making payments on my B6, so I can typically kiss a lot of my paycheck goodbye at the end of the month. I'm still running almost 100% stock (like 99%)

Car looks great dude. It's the more tasteful mods like yours that make our 10 year old cars look so much newer.

Thanks man, I like all the mods I have done and believe not a single one has made the car look bad, I found a whole ultra sport front bumper that I am looking to pick up. it needs some work but I am pretty good with fixing body parts so ill throw some pictures up when I get it and the process.

It's changed a little. 35% driver's and passenger's window. From there back you can go as dark as you want. But if you look local, they won't fuck with you...that hasn't changed.

Thanks man I made it so I could use most of the real clips and everything so there wasn't much other things used to hold it together other then the silicone and 2 little pop rivets on the bottom that I then sprayed to match the rest of it. I have some ideas with the grilles so Ill update tomorrow when I start making them

    Another Minnesota brother!

How did you respray your peeling headlight switch and still retain the white decals on it? Really interested in how you did that! I was just going to buy a new switch, but your way sounds 10X cheaper.

Nice man Minny FTW. you on MNAudi ? and to answer your question my buttons were still pretty decent so I used a little tape and taped off the white parts and just re sprayed. I found some paint that was perfect match so when I removed the tape it didnt so any lines or anything

Lol, that's brilliant! I would've never thought of taping those areas off. Thanks, man.

That turned out extremely nice. I love the custom grills! And the Avus' add a beautiful OEM look, too. Class act, all the way. Congrats!

Yes, I was gonna ask about your upper. Good call. Those custom ones looks so clean, your upper just looks out of place. Good work though. I'm planning on doing similar when my front bumper finally arrives. How did you attach the grilles?
