I Iive in northern Europe, purchased the car from Germany in 2009. Given the poor economic situation at the time, dealerships were offloading their demo vehicles at steal prices, in fact the price for mine would be exactly the same 3 years later. Anyway, as this was owned by an Audi dealer, it came packed with a lot of stuff including the B&O sound system, ADS etc. I was specifically looking for this colour, Phantom Black was the paint I used on my old B5 S4 when I repainted it. I was also looking for manual transmission, which was actually more challenging as a majority of th 3.0TDI's being sold were autos.
After getting the car, I wanted to put coilovers on it (have done so with every car I've owned over the past 10 years), but quickly learned that it would be a problem because of the ADS. Now this was a feature I considered pretty pointless and wouldn't have paid a penny for it, but this car happened to have it. It turned out that taking of the ADS wired shocks resulted in a warning light which couldn't be overridden. We tried even fabricating small "circuits" (excuse my poor english vocabulary) that would make the system think the shocks are still there, but it didn't work. After I was almost ready to switch cars, I found out KW started producing a cancellation kit that does exactly what we were trying to replicate. So, I ordered a set of H&R coilovers and finally after having the car for over a year I got the stance I wanted. Soon after, I had MTM software installed, which I've been very happy with. I haven't dyno'd the car, but the power increase is notable.
The next problem came in the form of wheels. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted, and ended up ordering a set of Rotiform's through their UK retailer. After I made the order I began having problems with the retailer, later heard the company went bankrupt and the owner disappeared.... Long story short, it took a year and 3 months for me to get the wheels. Needless to say, I had to get other wheels as at some point I was already convinced I would never see the Roti's. I ordered a set of HRE's which arrived incredibly fast from the US. Rotiform ended up sorting it in the end which I was thankful for as I'm sure they had plenty of trouble given the situation with this retailer...
So, to sum it up, here are some photos of what the car looks like today. I've been extremely happy with it as a daily driver, and the 3.0TDI is a fantastic engine. next on the list is blacking out the chrome trim to match the grill, and possibly some other tweaks....
