Question Exterior "B Pillar" trim removal?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone have any experience with removing the exterior "B Pillar" (glossy black) trim and the "C pillar" triangle piece?

I didn't want to just start pulling and cause damage if there was some sort of trick.

To remove the B trim, put down the window and remove the window guide. Remove the the 4 screws that hold the part in place and remove. For the rear your supposed to remove the window.. Ouch..

To remove the C trim remove the trim from the door frame on the inside, undo the one screw that holds it in place then slide the C pillar out.

Thanks for the great instructions David. I'm looking at the possibility of having them wrapped in CF to match all the other bits on my car. They look to be more difficult to wrap than previous generations because they're part of the door and not trim that sits along the body like B6/B7.

Your mod wheels are always turning Cory! Have fun and good luck with the upgrade. I don't mind the black window trim personally. IMO it really ties in with the dark window tint making the lines of the avant seem longer and smoother.

I'm a fan of what you've put together so far...looking forward to pics.

I actually agree with you. I've been vacillating about whether to change them or not because of that very reason. Recently I saw a B6 S4 with the pillars done in CF and it (re)peeked my interest. After having a close look it may be very difficult to do a proper wrap because of the tight tolerences.

Good luck with that, Cory! I was waiting for someone to release carbon pillars (not the ebay stick-ons), but finally gave up on it. Mine are scratched and swirled to shit.

How bad are the scratches? Have you spoken with Phil about how to make them look new again?

I'm honestly not worried about it. My car has plenty of battle scars at this point after 75k miles... cracked windshield, rock chips galore. Some swirled pillars are the least of my concern.

looks like the rubber trim might need gluing to put back in place.
