How to get B9 front on jack stands?

Just curious what the proper way is to get my b9 rs5 front onto jack stands to change out UCA? when changing wheels I only jack up one corner at a time with the jack and the pinch weld protector, but there is not much unprotected pinch weld area, so I am not sure how to get jack stands under there without damaging the side skirts. Just curious how others are doing this?

I recommend picking up a set of Jackpoint jack stands. I picked up a set about 5 years ago and they have been one of the best garage investments I've made because of how easy, quick, and safe jacking up the car is now. You can see them pictured in my ABT install write up here.

Those do look good. I have the rubber protectors for my regular jackstands, but just unsure how to jack it up and do jackstands since the jacking point is so small

I have been using the The RennStand Jack Stand for a number of years. It has adjustment in height. functionally similar to jackpoint.

The Jackpoint is open on one side. So you use the upper disk (which has a groove for the pinch weld) to jack up the car. Then, you put the jack stand around your jack. Finally, you lower the upper disk onto the jack stand. So, you use the same pinch weld for jacking up the car and for the jack stand.

To get the front up only I simply jack up from the rear passenger pinch weld, lift it very high, eventually you値l notice the passenger front pinch weld is in the air and you can put a jack underneath it. Then I repeat the same thing on the drivers side. It値l look a little sketchy with how high you have to lift but you can easily lift it up high enough where the front end will go up also. Definitely use pinch weld rubber adapters on the jack and stands.

To get all 4 tires up I do the process in reverse to get the rear end up, then I slide my low profile from the front to the and lift where the control arms bolt to the car. You値l see 2 giant bolt heads. I just jack up from there with a rubber block.ill sometimes need to use my smaller jack and go up on one of the forward pinch welds to get my low profile jack to clear the front bumper.

Thanks! I guess I have never tried that and figured it wouldn't work since the front is heavier. I have done it from the front punch weld to get the rear up but even that needs to go very high as you mentioned. I may try that.

I place my floor jack in the middle of the rocker area towards the rear of the door(I have a couple). From there I can jack up the car and place both front and rear jack stands under the reinforced pinch weld areas.

Thanks! Is there a spot in the middle that is open and won;t damage the rocker panel too? It seems like other than the front and rear jacking points the rest has plastic overlapping from the rocker panel.

Yeah I found a spot that didn't have any plastic trim

I will take a look now!! thanks!!

I am just trying to get my car up so I can eventually do the front sway and new intercooler. I am also debating on doing my front uca before service/alignment, but it may be worth just paying them to do those during the service so I dont drive with messed up alignment at all

edit: just looked underneath and on the rs5 SB except for the 4 corners of the pinch weld, the rest of the rails are covered up with undertrays so jacking from anywhere other than the 4 points would damage those shields.

Not a direct answer to your question but when I do wheel swap overs I put the jack on the front jack point, with a puck in the pinch weld. I just jack up high enough so both wheels are off the ground. The front is higher than the back of course but both sides are up so I can work on one side at a time.

That is how I do my wheel swaps between summer and winter. But since I need the 2 front wheels off the ground to lower the subframe for sway install that is more difficult without damaging any pinch welds.

No place to put them lol. I have a 4 post lift in my garage already, but problem is that doesn't get tires off the ground.

Check out the Powerbuilt 620516. Makes putting the car on stands sooo easy.

Now that is a cool looking jack!! Never saw that before and will look into it more! I need to work on the car this weekend though, so with such short notice for now I will try lifting it from the back jack point to get stands under the front
