    Clear Flood Mode?

I asked this question in the A5 forum, but didn't get any answers.

Do the B8 cars have a "clear flood mode" where you depress the accelerator pedal fully upon engine start to crank the engine without actually starting it?

Never heard of such a thing myself; never seen such a thing referenced here.

Hmm....okay, maybe we don't have it. But it's a very common feature. I thought just about all cars have it, but maybe not ours.

Yeah, if I need to crank without injecting fuel, just disconnect the 8-pin injector harness connector on the tree at the back of the IM next to the 14-pin IM harness connector and 3-pin knock sensor connector. Unless there's something more about this mode than just not operating the injectors.

No, I'm sure that would work just fine. The reason I'm asking is because my car has been sitting in my garage since before Thanksgiving without being started. I'd like to get some oil up to the top of the engine before starting it and the clear floor mode came to mind. If we don't have clear flood, then disconnecting the injector harness connector should serve the same purpose, but I'm guessing it might throw a fault code.

Most modern engines that are egas have it, almost sure ours should …

I imagine if this existed in the EA888, the workshop manual for replacing the turbo would include some reference to do it to cycle oil into the turbo. Instead, all it says is
♦ Fill turbocharger with engine oil at connection for oil supply line.
    and
After installing turbocharger, allow engine to idle for approx. 1 minute and do not rev up immediately to ensure turbocharger is supplied with oil.

I hear you but the workshop manual also doesn't say use clear flood mode after changing your oil, which technically would be the best thing to do. Rock, I guess just try it out and let us know. Usually you need to crank the engine with the accelerator pedal to the floor or possibly with the break pressed down all the way at the same time.

LOL....I'm not trying it. The last thing I want to do on a car that hasn't been started in over two months is to start it with the pedal to the floor. BTW, my car is a manual, so I'd have to have the clutch pedal depressed too.

I did a Google search and found a thread on VW forum about clear flood mode on the EA888 and they said it doesn't have it. So my guess is that we also don't have it.

After you start the car the first time if that wasn’t obvious….

I just tried it, maybe this car doesn’t have it. Held the brake and gas to the floor and it starts with ignition.

If it makes you feel better my 6MT sat for 11 months without being started and after a battery replacement she started right up with that obnoxious chain rattle and I haven't had a related issue since. (I have done timing but that was about 30k miles later)
