    Weize AGM battery anyone?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was wondering if anyone used Weize AGM battery in their Audi.
I have the original in my 2013(built in late 2012) allroad. It is about $150 shipped with no core fee so I can keep the original battery if I want to.

    Thanks

What's the Ah rating (the capacity)? If you are OCD about doing things by the book, you will want to get either a 92 Ah or 105Ah battery for simplicity sake. That way you will be able to enter a battery code that the car will actually accept and corresponds to aforementioned battery chemistry and capacity for improved battery management. (...92 Ah, 105Ah are most common).

If just taking the wild west approach, any battery will do and no need to code the battery module for AGM which has a higher charger voltage and shorter charge time

I have not used that brand but as long as it has a 3 year warranty, I can't see any issue choosing it. If you have VCDS or some other diag tool, you will want to enter a BEM code that corresponds to a 92 Ah battery. (The battery module only recognizes certain BEM codes and the numbers can be fudged for the most part but the part of the code that tells the chemistry (AGM) and the capacity (92Ah or 105 Ah) cannot be fudged. Must use something that was pre-programmed.

In this case it would be something like: 000915195CE JCB 411018I3RO

First part of the code tells it that it's AGM, 92 AH and must be that (just to make it easy) Second and third parts can be copied exactly. Format must be that or module will not accept it. Coding will maximize the life of the new battery since AGM and wet/flooded have different charging profiles.

My current battery is VARTA 92Ah with BEM code 4F091510E JCB1C0404403T '205 JCB1C4403TB. I do have VCDS and was just thinking to bump 03T to 04T in JCB1C0404403T
What do you think? Another option is Walmart but that is $200.
Weize is made in China but seems a good quality vs Walmart, I think, is made in Germany but could be in Korea.

Right, that code will also work. I didn’t know you had AGM originally.

Regarding brands I wouldn’t overthink it. Just get whatever is convenient. Personally I prefer big chain brick and mortar options since they make getting warranty replacement hassle free. So Walmart, autozone, advance, Napa, any of them are fine.

H8 AGM would be CE, not CF. CF is H9 AGM. 92Ah vs 95Ah is close enough; they are both H9 AGM. You don't get the option in B8 to set the exact Ah value. And to be honest, 92Ah vs 95Ah is probably only a difference in testing method than an actual difference in battery output. The H8 wet flood that Audi uses is 95Ah, but to set the wet flood p/n for an AGM battery would be far more wrong than having a battery that's different by a few Ah.

There's going to be a space between JCB and the 10-character serial. You can set the serial to anything, such as "WeizeJan25" or whatever.

Weize $151 total ( no core fee) with 3 year warranty or Walmart EverStart Maxx Lead Acid $190 with 4 year warranty.

So Is the consensus that Weize is "good" to use as is?

SMac is correct; 4F0915105E is H8 AGM (PR-J0B). Your WEIZE H8 AGM starter battery is equivalent. You should need only to bump the serial number to re-adapt after replacement (or code the serial number more descriptively, as he suggests). --g

What is your opinion on weize(china) vs walmart( I think Germany)? It is also 3 year warranty vs 4year.

None of us have heard of Weize brand. Honestly I would get the Walmart battery because it's very easy to exchange it at the store if it goes bad. You just bring the old battery to the store.

How will you apply for warranty replacement for the Weize battery? Ship it back to china? Will you have to bare that cost? Who is their US importer?

I would always source a starter battery locally -- Walmart on-line lists their EverStart Platinum H8 AGM for $180 (plus a nominal core charge): https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...50-RC/40647529

I put one of these in our '17 A4Q 6MT sedan in May (upgraded from the spec'ed PR-J1N H7 AGM and readapted with VCDS) since there was NO price difference between the H7 and H8 Platinum AGM models on the shelf at the time. Too bad the car was rear-ended 2 weeks ago while we were stopped at a traffic light and is now sitting in the dealer body shop lot awaiting its fate (repair or total for salvage -- the at-fault insurance has decided to write off the loss, but we're not done yet). --g

Did you use a memory saver or some kind of power bank? I have Schumacher portable starter/power bank.

They have US presence and warehouses in US. They are sellers on Amazon. No cost for replacement, don't have to send the old battery back either, just a photo with the voltage or tester.
