Talking 2024 RS6 or RS7 tuneable or not?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

Is here anyone who got an OBD tune on a 2024 RS6 or RS7?

My RS6 Performance is from July 2024 and I get mixed responses from tuning companies.

It seems that the new ECU's are connected with satelite and it's impossible to do OBD tuning on those.

Only solution I've read about is, send the ECU to Finland to unlock.

APR just told me they got a tune for the 2024 Performance models ready...

Would love to hear some info on this topic.

    Thanks

yes and the main ecu server is on mars

but on a serious note, to tune it you will have to park inside a deep tunnel then it will work

    LOL

My understanding is that any tunes for the 2024 Performance cars aren't ready yet. Sounds like there was enough change in the vehicles that warranted further testing.

I dont think it's about testing, It's about getting access to the ecu with the new anti tuning mechanism
    Not so easy it appears.

2024 tunes are available. Traditional handheld OBD unlocking isn't available yet. OP, trying contacting Power Division, they are in Poland. And I am not 100% sure of this but I believe the 2024 tunes will output similar numbers to years prior, not more.

So basically, if you want to tune, just buy an older model and save your money because the power output is the same.

That would be disappointing. The turbo internals are supposed to be different which should allow for more power over the non performance model. @APR is supposed to be coming out with a tune soon that supposedly will be better.

Again it's just my opinion, I have nothing to back it up with. I would be very surprised if the 30 horsepower increase over the 2021-2023 models carries over to stage 1 and 2 tunes.

    Hi.
You can flash 2024 cars only if it stays with H40 hardware (no SFD2 protocol) all the rest are unable to flash due to new protocols based on tokens.
By the way, rs6 perf have the same internals as in RSQ8. So turbos are different, but not bigger. Lower CR by 0.5 can handle more timing on pump fuel, so you can received more 20-30hp y comparison with standard rs6

Thanks for the info. My ecu box has a sticker on it it and it says HW : H80 , so I suppose I have H80 hardware?

I just checked my ECU and it says HW: H31

Does that mean mine can be flashed?

Word of caution.... I have a 2021 RS7 and planned to extend factory warranty via Audi Pure. I was denied due to TD1. I bought used and the PO had tuned the car. It's not tuned, but was tuned. Despite I didn't intend to tune, the Service Manager at local dealer indicated that becaue it had been tuned AoA would almost certainly deny a powertrain cliam and, beccuase of that, the dealership won't sell the warranty.

Anyway, be aware that you'll likely be without coverage on powertrain if tuned.

That said, I have tuned two 3.0Ts, one of which has over 100K and the other over 70K. While one has needed waterpump and starter ($3K in total repairs/maintenance), neither has had a supercharger or other engine related failures that would have been covered under extended warranty. Had I purchased extended warranty on either of those verhicles, I would have not recuperated my expense, let alone the opportunity cost of not having that cash otherwise working for me.

Seems like dealers are more concerned these days about tunes. I had my 10K service today and while I only have a aftermarket intake from APR the dealer in MSP scanned the car for a tune (I think). I noticed on the invoice that there was an "electronic inspection". There were no notes under the service item. Has anyone come across an "electronic inspection" before?
