    Audi A6 C7 MMI Upgrade

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2014 A6 Allroad and I would like to upgrade the MMI to the facelift version to enable carplay, I don’t like aftermarket kit so would rather avoid the rsnav style versions and go for the full OE setup if reasonably possible!

    Has anyone done this?

The C7.5 facelift MMI is incompatible with the pre-facelift C7 MMI so upgrading is not a possibility. Your best bet to get carplay and be “as OE as possible” is to get an aftermarket wireless carplay/android auto box that daisy chains off the center MMI unit and can be stowed behind the glovebox. Once installed, switching to carplay with one of these is a simple as holding down the NAV button.

When there's a will, there's a way. However I agree that the aftermarket CarPlay box would be the best option. I used one on my previous B8 allroad and currently use one for my C7 A6. Takes about an hour to install, and all you have to do is hold the "menu" button and it'll switch to CarPlay. Never had any problems with either of them and they cost about $190 from AliExpress.

Have fun throwing money away! There’s a reason these aftermarket mods exist - because it is not cost effective or practical/possible to upgrade the entire MMI system.

What is required to make this swap that makes it so expensive?

If you’ve got the time and resources to do it. Go for it! I’ll happily eat my words if you get it to work.
