Done it on my ‘22 model. Bought 21” Forgeline (from Jimmy at Nemesis - he looked after me very well) in the stock width and offset.
Fitted at dealer before pickup, so original rims and tyres had literally only “delivery mileage”
I ran PS4’s in 305 width (can’t remember profile but will update later) from the start
I’ve got ceramic brakes, DRC and Eventuri inlet manifold
I’m now on second set having replaced them at about 55,000kms (just done about 65,000kms in 17 months) and my verdict:
Tyres are brilliant
No pothole problems for me, whilst those all around struggle with torn tyres and bent rims on our crappy Aussie roads
Good ride
No brake clearance problems at all
Lighter weight of the Forgelines means it feels even better (by small increment, but noticeable from the car I test drove - as I never drove mine on standard rims)
Have had a small amount of touching/rubbing on some plastics on inside fronts - dealer trimmed with Stanley knife (inconsequential trim piece) and no more issues
I would think that if you pushed it out say 5mm with offset adjust you would possibly remove the inside “touching plastic” issue and also fill out the guards (oops - fenders in USA) a bit more. I was after “flying under the radar” so no problem for me. Of course I could just revert to 295 width tyres (not the standard 285 wide as noted for 21’s but 22’s have 295’s)
I wasn’t originally considering 21’s, but so glad that I ended up with them as I like them. Maybe if I was feeling a bit more “bling” then I’d go for one of those standout gold 22’s or whatever bling wheels with the offset pushed out as far as it could go … but that’s just not me. However, if I was going to, I’d be back to Jimmy as he knows what fits and what doesn’t. Check the pics of his RS6 - nice
