    RS6 C8 APR Stage 1 impressions

Long time lurker not posted much for a while. I have a new to me 2021 RS6 it’s a great car but wanted to tune it to get more out of it. Eventually decided on APR as I’d used them on my C7 S6. Dyno sheets look good but I know that only tells part of the story. Car felt strong day one loads of torque. Next day it felt a little underwhelming compared to the previous day. Could be in my head but I wanted to try get some times. My stock runs I managed repeatable 3.3-3.4s 0-60, 11.3-11.4 @ 119-120mph, and 8.99 100-200 but never had great conditions for that and only did it once.
After I properly let the engine warm I managed repeatable 3.0-3.1s 0-60, so 0.3s improvement this is with almost identical conditions. 1/8 mile previously 95mph at 7.35s.
Tuned I have managed a best time of 7.03s at 101mph.
60ft almost the same 1.76 approx. Same with DA
1/4 mile my best time is 11.05 at 124mph

I was expecting more, 0.3s doesn’t seem a lot for £1000+ and supposedly 140hp gains and loads more torque.

Car was strong stock and I just expected more.
Dealer has been responsive but I went with APR due to previously great software and provable results. I don’t think these times are amazing.

Would really appreciate some feedback from anyone who can give it. Am I wrong is this a great result. It seems like the APR plus file and numbers.

    I’m running shell 99ron (94 octane)

Tried reaching out to APR nothing yet.

    Thanks

I don’t have any before or after data. All I know is my car feels substantially faster than stock with the tune and I have stage 1 93 octane APR.

Thanks for the reply. Does the car need to really warm up before it gives full power? I’ve noticed when it’s warm it feels better. Had a good tonight and it felt strong again. Maybe it’s driver error?

I’m not very helpful as I don’t lean on the car unless it’s warmed up. All I know is the power seems effortless and dramatically different in a positive way. Maybe get the tune removed then re loaded?

You got a 0.3 second improvement. That is approaching a 9% improvement. A lot of engine builders spend quite a bit more to get a similar gain. You are pushing a very heavy car, it takes a lot of power to get it going from a standing start. I suspect the rolling improvements are much better and the power delivery band is a lot wider than stock.

This is why I love forums. Thanks. Yes I agree. I wasn’t letting the car warm up enough just 88-90 it was limiting power and I had to turn traction fully off. I’m going to try the intake too as from two videos and a few posts I can see others at similar times as myself. The car and tune is very strong I should stop chasing figures.

If you are pushing a the car, do not use the water/coolant temp, the oil temperature is what is important.

Does APR have octane switching like the c7?

his problem was he bought the wrong car, if u bought a 1.6 tdi with 90hp a tune bumps it up to 140hp, my 1/4 improvement was like more like 3s not 0.3s hahaha

So here’s a simple experiment you can do. Buy the APR ultra link. Remove the tune, drive your car then come back and reinstall the tune. See if you notice a difference. I removed my tune today just to practice in case I needed to address something minor at the dealer, I drove the car and I was seriously underwhelmed. I put my tune back on and noticed a not so subtle improvement in performance.

not that simple cause after flashing a tune car will be even faster after 2-3 days, ecu goes through adaptation phase, this was true for all the past cars I had flashed with apr and others

I tried but sadly ultralink not available in UK.
I did managed to get out in it today and did a PB.
    0-60 2.94s
    1/8 6.98 @102mph
Ran out of space for the 1/4 but still did an 11.48 at 79mph, I let off early. Looks similar to other times at 10.8-9

Difference was conditions and 1/4 tank of fuel instead of full tank. Car had warmed properly too.

    Feels really strong no complaints.

    Getting APR intake installed tomorrow

@Nsd991 explain the Ultra Link. You purchase it for $130 then you go to their website to download the tune of your choice? What tune did you go with and what are the prices of the tune? Why do this as opposed to taking my car to a nearby shop that handles APR tunes?

I originally had my car tuned by a dealer. The ultralink became available after my car was already tuned but I purchased it anyway so I can remove the tune in case of trip to Audi dealer and simply add it back after. The price of the tune is the same as it would be from the dealer.

Launching a car has so many variables with many inconsistency. Maybe a 62-124mph will be better.

I should just delete the original post. Does anyone know how to edit or delete? First run with traction fully on and in damp conditions managed a 6.83 100-200 did an 8.99 stock. Had the APR intake installed too. Very impressed. Wish I could change the title to APR wow!!
