Question ABS Error Code Troubleshooting - Please advise

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I abruptly started to get a slew of ABS, Tire Pressure, and Hill climb faults on my 2016 S3. From doing research, this is commonly due to the ABS Speed Sensor. After putting my ODB reader it seems that the notable codes recorded were the following:

C101D29 Right Rear ABS Sensor Implausible Signal
C101D14 Right Rear ABS Sensor Open Circuit/Short Circuit to Ground
    C102D00 Tire Pressure Warning
    C114602 Tire Pressure Signal Error
C10E2F0 Control Module Parking Brake Wheel Sensor Implausible Signal
U041500 Invalid Data received front Anti-lock Brake System Control Module

Correct me if I am wrong, but since this is an active Wheel speed sensor on the 8V Audi, I believe the only 3 things this issue could be are the following:

    1) ABS Wheel Speed Sensor
    2) ABS Wiring harness
    3) ABS Control Module

I didn't know how to troubleshoot the wiring harness/control Module so I figured I would replace the Wheel speed sensor first as that would be the most common and easiest thing to do.

I called up my local dealer and they wanted $169 for the replacement wheel sensor. I then called a local auto parts store that specializes in Foreign parts and they said they could get me an OE version for $51.

I popped the new one in , drove it a couple of miles i got the same error. If I clear the code, the care pops a new code immediately in its place.

I scanned the system again I now I have the same codes as mentioned plus an additional code stating:

C101D4A Right Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor - Incorrect Component Installed.

I checked the part# stamped on the OE part and it was the same as my OEM. The one I got was Gray color an the original one was black. Do aftermarket sensors normally throw Incorrect Component Installed but still work as intended?

I don't know if I can return the aftermarket sensor to the parts place since I installed but the question is what to do next?? If I buy the $169 one from the dealer and it still doesn't work then I'm screwed as I have 2 extra wheel speed sensors.

Is there anything else I can do to test the sensor, wiring or abs module before going down that route? I do have a Vagcom and received the same errors as the obd reader. I would hate to bring it to the dealer and get raked over the coals. Any help is much appreciated.

You can swap the 2 rear sensors and see if the error moves to the left.

    Never seen "codes" like those...

C101D29 Right Rear ABS Sensor Implausible Signal
C101D14 Right Rear ABS Sensor Open Circuit/Short Circuit to Ground
    C102D00 Tire Pressure Warning
    C114602 Tire Pressure Signal Error
C10E2F0 Control Module Parking Brake Wheel Sensor Implausible Signal

What are you using to get these?

If ya google C101D29 it comes up with:

C101D29 fault code in a Volkswagen can be caused by water leaking into the TIUL coupling connector, which can be due to clogged sunroof drains. This can lead to a number of system faults, including the C101D29 fault code.

I got them from my Innova 5610 OBD reader. I can check in Vagcom to see what codes it gives
