P0022 please help me diag this code!

So the story begins with i got this 2007 a4 quattro 2.0t that the previous owner just replaced the timing belt. Come to find out the timing belt tensioner was loose and you guessed it....belt came off and bent all the valves. Being that the engine had 200k i just set out to find a used engine. I found a good deal on a engine with 120k and swapped out engines. The issue i am having is the code p0022. I have checked and replaced the vvt actuator at the back of the engine, replaced the camshaft position at the front of the engine and have done two oil changes. The code will come back within about 4 mins of the car running. At idle it is a little rough with cylinder 2 showing occasional misfires. The leakdown test came back good as well. I verfied the actuator works with my scan tool and also verified 12volts. There is no chain noise as well even on a cold start. Could someone point me in some directions?

Strange that the p0022 is a "bank 2" code, and you have a 2.0t(1 bank).
Its a timing over retarded code, which means its not advancing like it should.
Likely causes are VVT Solenoid, cam phaser(adjuster), or poor oil pressure/flow to your VVT system.
You said you tested the n205 with vcds, but id remove and check it. Could be clogged, not working correctly, etc. Could be damage to the phaser, keyway, or internals of adjuster.
The oil port(screen) on the cam chain cover can be clogged, or the ports inside the cover.
Hard to say exactly what it is, gonna need to pull its apart, inspect, and clean. Thats what I'd do anyway..
Check blocks 91/93 on vcds, see what you get at warm idle..

thanks for the reply! i am using a snap on scan tool but can rear all the pids. i moved on to a leak down test which is great on all cylinders but concerning is the compression est only showed 100psi on all cylinders. scratching my head on that one. i have removed and replaced the n205 with another one that i had as well. block 91-3[adjustment intake b1 spec] at idle shows 28. 91-4 [adjustment intake b1 actual value ] shows 52

Def do what Jayz691 recommends and take it apart. Remove the rear timing housing cover and inspect (buy a new gasket ahead of time). Put car in TDC and check rear chain for timing with a mirror.

I was getting P0011 and 0022. My timing chain tensioner was damaged which allowed my chain to skip a tooth. There are also 3 plastic rings in the rear chain housing that interact with the cam phaser. 1 of them was broken, and another was missing entirely. I was driving with only 1 of them. Double checking the alignment of your timing belt is a good idea too. Sometimes it can look aligned but its actually a tooth off. Not a pro here but have dealt with similar symptoms.
