I would flip things around by saying test drive a newer model Japanese car and whatever Audi you are looking at a decide which feels better for you.
An Audi will typically be more expensive to operate (91 octane gas is recommended for most if not all of them) and parts are generally more expensive. IMO the Audi drive experience more than covers my increased cost for driving an Audi.
I was a Honda fan prior to getting my Audis and there is no comparison - an Audi drives so much better than the Honda. I've had B5, B6, B7 and B9. My 1998 B5 had 240.000 km before it got rear ended and written off by ICBC; I would have kept it running forever except for that. My 2008 B7 was bought new and I still use it as a daily driver and is currently at 230,000 km. The 2005 B6 was at 220,000 km before I gave it to my nephew as I got a my 2017 B9 as a used car deal at 4yrs old with only 25,000 km on it.
Regular maintenance is key and I haven't had any issues with any of my cars that made me regret owning an Audi; whatever one you buy,be prepared to spend some money on immediate initial maintenance - change all the fluids right away, replace regular maintenance items like timing belts/water pump/tensioners/brakes and you will be set for multiple years.
If car cost is all your budget allows, then choose a Japanese model instead.
