I placed an order for an AWE intercooler with Modded Euros it's been a month now and I never received it. They do not respond to emails. Does anyone know what's going on with them?

If you can't get a hold of them, document when you called/emailed and start a charge back.

Did they tell you the item was “in stock” or that it may be shipped from vendor if/when in stock?

It goes directly to a voicemail and says to email them.

AWE intercoolers are made to order IIRC and mine took awhile, like 6-months, even tho everyone had them listed online as in-stock. i was about to start bashing the business online (the retailer) bc they were terrible about responding to emails and phone calls, but went to AWE and asked if they even had my order. turns out they hadn’t even received it. so i hit up the site from where i bought it and laid into them. demanded a refund and that’s when they told me they’re made to order and they hadn’t sent out the order. i had gotten such a good price on it that i just waited it out and got it months down the road. not saying what’s happening here is ok or normal, but maybe clears up some of the confusion

I spoke directly to AWE they told me that modded euro gets it from a third-party Warehouse not directly from AWE.

Almost all AWE goods (short of carbon) are made to order. Depending on the time of year, you could be looking at as little at 3 weeks and up to 8 weeks. Their catalogue is far too large now to keep inventory. Nemesis is a direct dealer and we try to keep stock. We do have access to master distributors as well. We still have two units in stock.

If it's made to order, it is not "In Stock" and the web site should state that. Just went through the same thing with Hartmann wheels. Web site says in stock, place order along with new tires from TireRack shipping to Achtuning to mount before sending wheel/tire combo to me. Turns out, the wheels are not in stock and will not be available until sometime next year. Had to scramble to cancel Tire Rack order as they are very fast with shipping. This is just plain inexcusable and wish more folks would push back rather than accept.

As a customer, I have zero tolerance on this at this point. If I place an order under false pretenses, I will cancel immediately and charge back if needed. The downside is that the places to order from is shrinking fast due to this and other merchant shenanigans. Just yesterday I spent an hour chatting online with a customer service rep about my incomplete order of rotors and pads form a very highly regarded place on here. They shipped only two of the large anti rattle springs for the front calipers even though it requires 4 and their web site clearly shows 4 as well. They also sent me 2 tracking numbers for the order, but it was shipped in 3 parts.

Just fed up with all around incompetence/shady business practices to get the dollar from you. Sorry for the rant...

All i can say is read community reviews, call and talk to vendors, and choose vendors that are active in the community for orders that are important to you. For example I can't say enough good things about Mops@Nemesis. Active in the community, responsive in email, able to tell you what can be fulfilled and how, etc...

We're all used to Amazon and similar rapid and mostly accurate fulfillment, but most small companies aren't there yet. Lots of stuff is drop shipped, CTO, pending stock, etc... it's supper common especially in lower volume cars like B9s. This isn't exactly the ford mustang where tens of thousands of people are buying all this stuff.

Here's a basic way I do research in these cases:

    1. Google the vendor against obvious communities, so for Modded Euros and Audi it's as simple as:

    > "modded euros" site:audizine.com

When I do this search the first result is complaining of a similar issue.

    2. Google vendor against reddit, same exact way just change to site:reddit.com.

Literally first few results for me (everyone's will be a bit different) are similar complaints.

    3. When doing this look for the vendor in the resulting threads to see if they're active on reddit, forums, etc... If they're inactive it's a bad sign.

    4. If they have contact details, especially more direct ones like from #3 above, give them a call and see if they can fulfill your important order.

    5. If the red flags pile up and you don't like the conversation you had or couldn't get in contact then you have your answer.
