    BO Tweeter rattle question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok not sure if anyone else has had something like this. I just got my 2024 RS6 yesterday. Driving home and of course trying to learn all the tech. I put some music on via CarPlay and the driver tweeter that pops up on the dash was rattling so bad at any volume. I tried a few different songs and still buzz buzz. I called the dealer and of course will have to bring it in. Just curious if anyone else has had an issue. The car has the BO Advanced upgrade. I guess this is the 3d sound option .. lol
Thanks for any help and absolutely am in love with the car so far

    Congrats on the car.
I ordered this option as well, hopefully easy fix.

This doesn't help but my right door speaker started rattling. 2024, 4k miles BO Advanced. It's quite irritating and haven't had the chance to take it in to fix yet.

There is a thread on Audiworld as well regarding rattles. But mostly from the door and not the tweeter.

Could it be the speaker itself is bad?

Well I noticed it as soon as I pulled off the lot. Has only gotten worse. I was about to pull the speaker covers but then said. Why am I doing this. I just paid for this beautiful car. I will wait to diy. I will hopefully get it resolved tomorrow. I really hate going to the dealer they always mess my stuff up.

Replaced the pod for the tweeter, the door panels were removed and trial and error with felt and tape I believe

The design of the speaker grills on the adv B&O was clearly aesthetics over function. I noticed the same rattle on mine. I’ve never had good luck with dealers on speaker rattles; so I tackled myself.

Try pressing on the yellow box in the picture and see if it goes away. The design is a two piece metal on metal and it resonates like crazy during bass notes.

If that’s the issue it’s real easy to remove and fix with felt tape, or dynamite type material by wedging in the spot below.

    IMG_4790.jpg

If that spot is not the issue the plastic door panel mounts tend to rattle around in their carriers, which involves removing the door panel.

Thanks. I hope to be getting the car back today from the dealer. They were not convinced it was the door/speaker cover … IDK i think it is. I might just do this fix and see if it helps. This is very helpful so thanks again.

This! I have a '24 with advanced B&O and have same rattles on both front doors. Took my door card off and did the above and also added felt tape to various spots the speaker grill touches the door card. Rattle gone.

Appreciate all the responses. Dealer called me and updated me saying they installed felt tape all around the speakers and doors and they believe the rattle is fixed. I pick it up tomorrow so hopefully this isn’t an issue. If so will end up digging into it myself.

Do you have to remove the door card to get this grill off? I’m having this issue and when I press right along the metal strip it stops.

Haven’t had time to tend to it but if the grill easily pops off then I can tackle this at anytime.

    Thanks for the assistance!

No you do not have to remove the door. It is held in by plastic clips around the edge, with a fixed slot that attaches at rear side of the door. Get a trim removal tool set (Plastic) and carefully pry along the edges to release. Do all sides except for the rear most portion (the acute triangle edge) since that is where the slot guide is and carefully pull out while moving the grill towards the front of the door. Once removed there is a single connector for the light bar that requires a small screwdriver to depress the release clip and then you are done. Installation back is obviously just in reverse.

Removing the door card is not all that difficult if you want to go a step further. I did any applied sound dampener material (NOICO) all over certain spots to help contain and vibrations that would lead to resonating noise. Door closes with a more solid thunk now reminiscent of the older german cars. I had to do this in my RS5 too, doors were a complete rattle trap until I did.

Update... well i would say exactly what they dealer did but with this CDK Global hack they were a bit out of sorts. So when I spoke to the tech he said they pulled the door cards off and the speaker grills and foam taped it up really well. I was surprised cause they did a good job and so far (knock on wood) no issues. No rattles at all ... Lets hope it stays that way. So appears all the info everyone has shared should resolve the issue. Thanks again for the help.

Is there technical bulletin regarding this issue for dealers? So they know what to do.
