    Valve cover gasket replacement

Have a 2011 Q5 with the 2.0. Was misfiring so I went to change the coil pack and there is oil in the tube surrounding the spark plug. From what I read it needs the valve cover gasket replaced. Called one shop and they said $300. Called another that works on German cars and they said it could have the cover that also holds the cam cover in place and could be up to $1k. Anyone have any experience replacing this? TIA

If you mean the 2.0T CAEB engine, there is no preformed gasket there; it's an anaerobic RTV sealant. And it's not a simple valve cover; the cylinder head cover is also the upper bearings for the cams. There's threads about the task in the B8 A4 forum. The CAEB 2.0T engine is the same be it B8 A4, B8 A5, or B8 A5.

    It’s the 2.0 TFSI engine.
