I don't see how that could affect it. Did you touch or more any PCV lines?

Not at all I was just recharging since it was empty from the rebuild then I hear some kind of noise like a hose popping off and then the sound of leaking but there's no fluid anywhere I'm assuming I overfilled but how could that lead to the massive amount of smoke

It shouldn't at all. How did you recharge? Did you weigh how much refrigerant you put in?

If you heard something, idk if it was coincidential or not something else went, but usually white smoke is a ton of oil or coolant burning.

But I keep having this misfire issue when I unplug the hose that goes from the pcv to the intake manifold and plug the intake manifold with my fingers it idles perfect so I replaced the pcv valve and still the same thing it runs fine while driving but runs rough at idle and if I unplug that hose then plug the manifold side it idles completely fine

no totally independent...the only relationship between the engine and Ac is the engine acc belt drives Ac compressor, that's it.

that's normal, you are creating a massive vacuum leak unless you mean it misfires when all connected up. if so that would indicate you have a vacuum leak in the block like an RMS or something

Yeah it misfires when it's all connected up. Damn I really hope it's not a rms could a dv cause the Leak. A week ago when I had my car at audi to diagnose the cause of the misfires they did a leak down and compression test and that was all good so they did a smoke test and found the intake manifold gasket leaking bad and also said my turbo smart dv was leaking as well I put a new manifold gasket on and that helped a lot. Would injector seals possibly be the issue?

Injector seals could be a big issue as the injector is in the combustion chamber. However, if a compression test was validated, I'm not thinking it's there.

An open DV can cause a vac leak, but if they fail, they fail to where you can't build boost. Unless you have a BOV style?

Check the PCV to intake manifold hose. Give the ends a wiggle and tug to check their seat before removal. If an end cracked open, then that could explain the vacuum leak (and the noises that you heard). Remove the hose and inspect the o-rings and pinch connectors as well as the hose and crimped ends for damage. Wipe a dab of oil on the o-rings for re-install.

I have the turbosmart dual port so it does vent some to atmosphere but it's not a full blow.off valve like forge makes. I was building boost it drive great when I'm on the gas just idle is horrible

If it fails then I could see a vac leak occurring.

Zero reason to run a DV that let's boost off into atmosphere on this car. It's a MAF calculated fuel table; don't vent metered air!

There’s no reason to use anything other than an OE piston DV.

sounds like you have all kinds of mods on your car so i'm out on this one, i will leave this to the guys that know this better than me, but bottom line if if it runs really smooth when you block off the passage from your block would stand to reason that this is where the vac leak is...
Only other thought i have is could PCV system have failed and you are putting massive vacuum on your block and drawing in oil and that is the smoke you see .

The smoke went away. I don’t know why that happened. Maybe the Freon leaked onto something and burnt off honestly it was weird but it’s gone now I replaced two PCVs white top AK revision I have a 2012 A4, and before the rebuild it worked perfectly fine with the white top. I’m wondering if the new cylinder head that I bought requires a different version of the PCV valve? Or would the software only matter when it comes to the PCV valve version? Only mods that I have are engine related are the ECS front mount intercooler, CTS cold air intake and the turbosmart DV valve, which before the rebuild worked perfectly fine but I’m going to revert back to OEM.

    White smoke after ac recharge

Running a white cap PCV on a motor previously meant for a black cap requires a new crank seal and a software update to V2.

Are you using OE PCV’s or aftermarket?

Did this car ever have stg1 or stg2 oil consumption done?

I’m running OE pcv it’s my original block, I put in new Pistons, piston rings, rod bearings, and a cylinder head overhaul kit from ECS. i’m assuming it had the stage 1 done because a while back before my motor failed. I had a PCV go bad and called Audi to ask them which one I needed because it had a white top on it and they told me it looks like somewhere down the line my cars Software switch to the AK version(white top) but couldn’t give me any more info than that so I’m wondering if I need to go with a blacktop because of the new cylinder head? I’m gonna go to Audi today and see if I can get some more info.

If you have VCDS you can scan for your version.

I called Audi again yesterday and talked to my buddy that works in the parts department. He confirmed that my software is the AK version.
