    Question B8 S4/A4 Headlights Help

Hello All! So long story short I've been looking at forums regarding the compatibility for putting a B8 A4 headlight (2010) into a B8 S4 (2012) and seem to be finding some mixed answers and was hoping someone could help me clear some things up. So i currently own a 2012 B8 S4 and was looking for a set of spare headlights to modify, why spare? If i mess something up on the ones that are currently on the car id be pretty SOL as they are the only set i have... i live in a small town and while looking around on various marketplace the only person i can find with a parts car with headlights is a 2010 B8 A4 S-line the lights look to be the exact same but when i was looking at some forums I've seen talks about Halogen/Bi-Xenon and ballasts for both the HID and LED, conversion harnesses and VAGCOM and to be honest I'm having a hard time making sense of it all, so here is my question. Can I, with a 2012 B8 S4 put headlights from a 2010 B8 A4 S-line into my car plug and play, or do i need to modify the harness and the lamps themselves, and if so what process do i need to take to achieve that, or is it even worth the time.

Appreciate all advice, thanks in advance!

There's three headlamps for B8.0 A4: halogen, HID, and HID+AFS (cornering). They are not interchangeable. You can always hack the vehicle wiring and J519 coding to replace one with another, maybe. So more specifically, exactly what two sets of headlamps are you working with?

hmmm, they are definitely not halogens but to be honest they only way that i personally am aware of checking if they are HID or HID+AFS is powering them and seeing if they automatically adjust or "start up" so I'm not sure between the two... is there any way to tell visually or without powering on the car? since I'm not sure that powering them will even be possible. thanks

p/n, you know what you have; no p/n, you can't be sure what it is. Should be that large sticker on the headlamp with the Automotive Lighting p/n and/or the Audi p/n.

But you should at least be able to provide the info off your own headlamps, no?
