Weird issue with cold starts

I have a 2023 RS3 about 3 times now when I start the car, it idles very rough like it is misfiring and I get a drive malfunction message. I immediately shut the car off and after waiting a few minutes fire it up again, warning message is gone and it’s back to idling like normal.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

Yes, I have a 2024 with ~4700 miles and this happened only once quite a long time ago. I didn't think much of it since no permanent message was displayed. I just keep driving it now...

Look for S3DUDE on here, he’s had some issues, I believe it was battery related.

Scan it? ECU should report on that.

I'm sure there is a code stored if there was a drive system malfunction. Scan it with VCDS/obd11 or bring it to the dealer.

I had a ton of issues with the starting. They finally just released a TSB 5 weeks ago addressing the issue for good. If you haven't had your car reflashed at Chapman Audi you will probably benefit from the TSB, it is an issue only on the 8Y. What color is your RS3? I probably have seen you around in town.

Heyo! Thanks for info and I actually came across your posts, did you ever experience a rough idle to as if it was misfiring? I was planning on running over to Chapman on my next day off.
Mine is kayalami green there is another one running around town too.

Kyalami green there is the one that we own which is driven by my wife 99%, then there is another Kyalami green fully loaded ordered by a lady before us. I believe the lady ordered hers on Sep 14th of 2022 because we were third in line and she was second but ironically we got ours in October of 2022 which was at least about a year before they got theirs, the reason why is because we were offered four RS3 to pick from that were already built in the summer of 2022 (two blacks , a white and the Kyalami).

If you need a third party shop to do your maintenance and mods I would recommend independent VW/Audi shop on 22nd, it is a specialized VW/Audi shop next to the Nissan dealer. For warranty issues take it to Chapman off course.
