    APR Roll-Control Coilover Systems!

    Product Page

The APR Roll-Control Coilover System offers a wide range of adjustment to fully customize your vehicle's suspension setup! The system comes complete with front and rear struts and dampers, both of which have 32-points of dampening adjustment and a full range of height and preload adjustment. The fully threaded adjustable shock bodies allow for easy height adjustments without altering spring preload and travel. The front struts include camber plates that allow for dialing in your vehicle's otherwise non-adjustable front camber. In total, the system is a comprehensive upgrade that puts you fully in control to setup your vehicle for street, track, or show, all in one complete package!

Suspension is often one of the first items enthusiasts tackle on their vehicle. From the factory, vehicle ride heights are intentionally placed extremely high which often leaves the show-room floor vehicles looking goofy compared to their original design intent. This high center of gravity and overly soft setup often leaves much to be desired when it comes to handling performance. With our coilover suspension system, this is eliminated. The system is fully height adjustable in the front and rear with adjustable shock bodies, allowing you to perfectly balance the height and damping to your designed specs.

    For the track:
Track enthusiasts can corner balance the vehicle for better grip and handling with a lower center of gravity. The dampening adjustments allow you to stiffen up the shocks too perfectly match your ride height and track conditions, and the camber plates let you be aggressive to promote better turn in and handling in the most demanding situations.

    For the street:
Every day driving is dramatically different than the track, and this system allows you to balance, comfort, looks, handling, and tire wear thought height, damping, and camber adjustments. Many will find they prefer a slightly higher daily height, softer dampening, and more neutral camber adjustment. That's all possible with this system thanks to the extreme amount of adjustment at your fingertips!

    For the show:
Lowering for a show often means going to the extremes in ride height and camber often to levels many would not consider practical for every day driving. While excessively lowering the vehicle and dialing in high levels of negative camber can negatively impact performance, it does turn heads and can look great for photos or at a show. Airbags typically give you this ability with ease, but leave a lot to be desired when it comes to daily driving or driving on the track. Our system lets you dial in the suspension for a show or photoshoot while retaining the ability to return to a practical setup for the street, or an aggressive setup for the track! It's the best of all three worlds!

Is the part number the same for all the cars?
I figure they each have different spring rates.

You think for $1k coilovers they had time to develop different spring rates for each specific model?

No they designed it for the MQB architecture...

Yes. This is a fairly budget minded system at $1K all in. For someone who is a true track enthusiasts, they may want to opt for different spring rates if they are into tinkering further, but for the mass market, probably not.

I am definitely interested. Adjustable camber seems nice. I'm guessing we would need to kill the adaptive dampers still though.

I am a member at my local track. Are there options to choose spring rates? Are the default spring rates more geared to street driving?
My car is an 8Y and a street/track car. I have a Miata as a more dedicated track car, so I want to have it setup for track but without too much added NVH.

Yea big drawback is assume this causes a dashlight regarding the adjustable stock suspension not working anymore.

Unfortunately there is only 1 that I know of that doesn't cause that issue without cancel plugs. And its like a $6k option.

    Hi Arin,

With all the adjustability these provide, does APR has recommended settings/ starting point for the car? Say if its street driving start at click 8 for example.

Guys this is a kit for GTI's and A3's. You would have to be out of your fkin mind to replace your stock RS3 suspension with this.

No offense to APR, this blows other budget kits out of the water, but just because it fits the RS3 doesnt mean you should..

    Rs3 is just a bigger motor a3.
It has different weight distribution because of that. But what makes the rs3 not a prime candidate for this upgrade?

    BIzzare train of thought.

You think that a kit that costs $250 per corner is going to be an improvement over the RS suspension which has none of the same parts as the A3 suspension?

Again, just because the car is MQB doesn't mean you should put parts designed for 10 year old GTI's on an brand new $70k car.

You actually just stated why the RS3 is not a prime candidate. It's not only that the motor is bigger/heavier but it's weight is also centered in front of the front axles, placing higher demainds on the front springs and shocks. Also consider that GTI and base A3 dont have haldex or AWD meaning less weight at the rear of the vehicle than Golf R, RS3, S3, A3 Quattro. It's probably a great kit for a GTI.

For those that are also curious, Apr coilover spring rates are 448/280

    Per 034:
    Oem mag-Ride: 333.8/367.3
    Oem fixed: 326.6/404

Yeah I was going to look it up.
My rear always felt weird on bumps with the lowering springs so I went back to fixed.
Going softer in the rear probably will make it worse.

Price wise is very competitive considering that it comes with top hats and adjustable camber plates. To put things into context my KW V3 does not come with neither top hats nor camber plates. My only concern would be the canceler, you would have to out source them.

As per the quality/price I honestly think that they are a great deal. If I am not mistaking there are RS3 with regular suspension(non magnetic) in Canada and this would not right in. Also if you have a A3, S3 it would be a decent proposal. I had a A3 a few fears ago and it had a ton of body roll, it was a Quattro 2.0 but without the sport trim. This suspension feels the gap and APR is a reputable company dedicated to European cars, I just don't see the problem or the risk buying them. my .2c

Well said, which leads me to my soap box. The 8Y is a car that crushed Car & Driver's lightening lap.... stock -
    https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...ning-lap-2023/

It also blasted through the Nurburgring in less than 7:36... stock. Let me list some cars it beat... M5 Competition, Ferrari 458, 911 Turbo S (997), Ferrari F430 Scuderia, RS4 Advant Competition, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, 997 GT3, and M2 CS. Granted some or these were not current models, but non-the-less, some of them were late model supercars!

This is NOT a slow car on the track, and I GAURANTEE anything you do to it, other than a better set of tires, a track alignment, and learning how to drive it like a pro, is just going to make it slower.

If you're in it for looks, fine. Throw a set of $300 lowering springs on it for a 1" drop and call it a day, but replacing the factory dampers with anything on the market today will not make you faster than you already are.

My beater car is a 2017 WRX. Fully bolted with a tune, less flex fuel, and put down 338whp on a dyno. It's got a custom valve Bilstein coilover set up, upgraded rear sway bar, solid end-links, adjustable, solid rear toe links, rear control arms, a bump steer kit, adjustable camber plates, a set of Mich AS4's, an aggressive alignment and an STI Brembo front and rear brake upgrade.

Does it handle well? Yeah, sure. As well as my STOCK 8Y? Not even close, and my 8Y doesn't rattle the fillings out of my teeth around town. Is it fast? Yeah, sure. Is it as fast as my 8Y? Not even close. Does it brake well? Yeah, sure. Does it brake as well as my 8Y? Not even close. I think you get what I am trying to say.

Not to take away anything from APR's product. These coilovers are probably the best looking coilovers I've seen for less than $1,000. I'd be interested to know why or how they chose their spring rates. My WRX is 400 lbs/in springs front and rear and the car weighs maybe 3,300lbs. Slightly lighter than an RS3, but pretty much the same as the Golf R platform. 448 lbs/in springs in the front is gonna be hella stiff!

    It's a great price...hopefully it's well sorted.

You can't compare the spring rates from one platform to another....different suspension geometries.
I'm not too concerned about the springs rates as long as the valving of the shock suits it. The dampening can be dialed to the chassis and to your liking.
