    B9 vs B9.5 RS5 Differences?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As simple as the title. Would be great to have a sticky on this subject. Trying to buy a slightly more economical grocery getter (than my B8) that actually has rear doors.

Can anybody point me to a thread that does a comprehensive review of the B9.5 changes in the RS5? Would love to see the comparison for both coupes and sportbacks as it relates to aesthetics (both interior and exterior) and package options. Obviously don't care much about the engine as it remains unchanged unless there are key recalls or service updates that are important (which I'm unaware).

Before I get flamed for not searching, just know that A) I'm a loyal Audi owner and Audizine community member, 2) I recognize obvious differences of the B9/B9.5 (fascia differences and FBSW in the B9), but I'd love an exhaustive list, D) I've searched and it's hard to search less than 3 character words (hence why a sticky makes sense - note for moderators), 4) I have kids...I ain't got time, homie (and respect and give cred to those that provide info that we all appreciate), and E) Home Alone 2 is a fantastic movie.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Here is thread I started on my comparison from owning a B9 and B9.5 RS5 Sportback. It's not a comprehensive list of changes but it's an owners take on some key changes.

theres rumors that the latest B9.5 comp packages have higher unofficial HP, some youtubers are claiming it's 500 hp+ stoc now but idk if this is true because you can never trust someone's random dyno run

B9 looks better from the front but B9.5 is more aggressive in the rear (personal).

no rev limiter on stock tune is just epic, with a res delete, it's a very aggressive stock rev for showing off

I've built plenty of cars. Some were built by me, others with the help of a shop if I just didn't have the time to tinker around. Half of the builds were dedicated E85 and I never experienced issues with injectors or any other fuel system components. I think if you use quality E85, you're ok. For extra insurance, I also run some Lucas Oil fuel treatment. Again, never a problem.

I had the option to go for a 2020 B9.5 or a 2019 B9, both very similar in price as the B9.5 had higher milage. Ultimately, I chose the B9 as I wasn’t keen on the curved look at the rear end and the 2019 was the limited Sport Edition model so the spec was slightly better.

Can honestly say I’ve never regretted that decision, I don’t see the differences between the 9 and 9.5 to be significant at all and in some ways i see the B9 as being the better looking car. Not saying that to spark flame wars just my own opinion and not everyone will agree which I accept.

The main reason I bought the B9 version was that it had controls that did NOT require a touch screen to operate.

Relying on only a touch screen for a vehicle control is one of the stupidest ideas ever. It requires one to take their eyes off the road.

I agree - I much prefer the mechanical MMI in my B9 to the touchscreen.

If I recall correctly he was basing this off the 0-60 times compared to his previous B9 with various tunes, then dyno'd to confirm.

A few minor aesthetic differences not mentioned in the other threads:

    - The screw covers on the center console in the footwell are gone.

    - The gear selector button is now black vs aluminum colored

    - The 12v adapter covers are plain black and no longer match the other knobs

    - The sun shade can't be run independent from the sunroof
