I'm not looking to remove the abs, just the brake booster, to have better braking control, lose some weight but also free up a considerable amount of space in that area as I have an ABS, main wiring, battery relocation wiring and knock sensor relocation harmesses that run down the rain tray. In short, I have a full wire tuck, all bosch sensors, oem plugs and oem black harness clips and oem black plug organizers are mounted in the rain tray.

You would need a master for manual brakes, or it would be a death trap.

So everyone's on the same page we're talking about a legitimate brake booster delete kit like:

    https://subimods.com/products/chase-...IaAq6rEALw_wcB

These have a mechanical advantage, making a brake booster obsolete. I've already installed this system in my Audi Fox, but an 'under the dash system' making the bay that much more cleaner and moves all brake line inside the car/under the carpet. In this approach I'm looking to keep the oem location/have a bolt on affair.

I messaged Chase Bays about their booster delete kit that fits the 90-99 VW's but they couldnt tell me if it woul bolt up to the Audi or not. I was looking into the kit a few years ago after I deleted the abs system and ran braided lines with a proportioning valve to clean everything up.

Is this a track car or street car?

Personal opinion and worth the pixels it's displayed with but a single circuit master cylinder on a street car is a terrible downgrade.

I went with a booster delete on my v8 e30 because of clearance constraints/simplicity but it used a properly sized dual circuit parts bin MC (as in, an MC from another car that's readily available should there be a failure in the future) along with changing the pedal ratio. It was definitely an improvement in my ability to modulate the brake force. However, I don't know that without redesigning the b5's pedal pivot assembly that you could get enough of a ratio change. Have you measured the stock pedals to see if it's possible with the little room we have under there?

Checking back into this. Starting to have problems with my booster causing the rear brakes to lock up, then gradually releasing pressure once the car sits for a bit. I had my Wilwood proportioning valve fully loosened up with no pressure on the rears and they were still locked up. If I let the car sit for about 10min the pressure would release.

I don't think the booster is going to cause just the rears to lock up. Are you sure you don't have a fail hose/line?

The more I think about it, it doesnt make sense on just the rears. I need to check my lines, theyre all new, only hard lines are directly under the car but everything else is steel braided. Im curious if I may have a bad master.

I decided to pull the trigger on the Chase Bays 6:1 dual piston booster delete kit and be a guinea pig on installing it on our B5 chassis. I also purchased a separate reservoir kit for the clutch master since CB says not to use the dual piston reservoir for the clutch.

Nice, when you assemble your preferred CB configuration can you weight that, then the oem booster/master?

And pics during install . Thanks!

Definitely going to try my best at doing a full write up. I was looking at the firewall and bolt hole locations and they look pretty square, thinking the CB plate might line up even though there are only 2 holes on our chassis. I wish I had VW mk2/3/4 or bmw E30 booster bolt hole pattern to compare the bolt hole alignment. The CB kit has 4 studs that go through the firewall and tighten with nuts, compared to ours with bolts into the pedal box. Got to try and figure something out there.

Finally received the booster delete from Chase Bays yesterday after USPS delayed it. The plate comes with 4 threaded studs to mount up to the firewall, even though our B5's only use 2. To my surprise, the bolts line up just like they would on an E30 or Mk2/3/4 VW. The only way I can see this bolting up to our firewall without modifying the booster plate itself, is to drill out the threads on the pedal bracket and then make 2 more holes in the firewall and use nuts on the inside. I will get pictures and a detailed write up, hopefully this weekend.

Working on a small write up as I go, in the B5 A4 section. Hoping to get back to it tomorrow. Having to modify the pedal bracket so I can get access to the 4 nuts off the booster delete plate.
