    Question B9 S4 TUNING?

Hello everyone , just wondering what tune everyone is going with in the community ? I'm still pretty new to modding and tuning in the german sports car world. I know there are a few major companies like REVO, INTEGRATED ENGINEERING , 034 MOTORSPORTS, APR, ECS, & MTM. What are the pros and cons within each brand ? Whats the most popular and least problematic for stage 1-2?. Thankyou

034 Seems to be the go-to for stage 1-2.

IMO, 034 is great for daily driving. feels like stock when you're cruising and gives you all the power when you step on it. IE is a bit more aggressive and feels like you're always in boost. cant go wrong with either company.

I?ve used APR for my last 4 vehicles. APR seems to be the most safety based tune out there as far as factory installed measures go,,, meaning although not the highest as far as HP or torque but more engine safety measures added so things don?t go boom.
Yes, other tuners may have more peak power by pushing the limit?s further but at what longevity cost.
APR also does not do a Stage 2 for our cars in the USA any longer as they choose (were forced) to not mess with aftermarket high flow cats.
They do offer a Stage 3 turbo but that still uses the OE cat.

Will the other tuners flashes make your engine wear faster? Most likely not but no one will guarantee anything obviously. They also tell you your car is no longer public road legal at Stage 2. (No one cares unless you live in the communist state of California)

    Good luck with your choice!
2010 GTI APR Stage 3 K04, VWR springs, UniBrace.
2013 Golf R APR Stage 2, APR DSG Tune.
2012 B8 S4 DSG Sport diff. APR Stage 2 V4.0, APR TCU tune, JHM 187 lower pulley, Modded air box, silicone tube, CR-15 (sold).
2019 S4 APR Stg 1 tune, TCU tune, intake, FMIC, 034 Rear bar, ECS inserts, Koni Special Active Red shocks, 034 shock mounts, Mops 10/12 spacers.

For a simple Stage 1/2, all mainstream tunes will be pretty comparable and I wouldn?t say there?s any major selling points for one over another. You can flash at home with 034, IE, and APR.

You can?t really go wrong with either of them and they all pretty much have the same features. APR is generally known for being a bit more on the conservative side. I don?t think they offer E85 tunes though whereas 034 and IE do, but I might be wrong.

Yup, stage 1/2 is pretty comparable across all the big vendors at this point. I think you can make your choice around the feature set, availability of a local shop if that's important to you.

I've been using the JB4 for a few years now while I wait for my warranty to run out. It works great and gets me to consistent 12.1 quarter mile times on 93 octane. Not quite as good as a flash tune but IMO still a pretty good improvement over stock. Burger were ahead of the game with their mobile app and real time gauges etc., but I think the flash tune vendors all have similar functionality now as well.

    Cheers

Still rocking my 6 year old beta JB4, I've owned ...eight (it's not a problem you guys have a problem lol)... different B9's and I still slap the JB4 on all of them first. Map 3 on 92+ is a nice little boost and it takes 2 mins to install or remove if you run the OBD cable through the door jam, easy peasy and you can transfer between cars, is a worthwhile mod for stock+ power.

I'm kind of frustrated it took Audi until the '23+ model year to revise the transmission tuning in Sport to be closer to the twitchy nature you get from a BMW in Sport+, but I love it in my '24, and it really makes the car more acceptable at stock (or JB4) power levels.

Have run every vendor's tune at this point, stage 1 & 2 are all about the same as others have said. I still preferred EPL's ECU & TCU tune combo overall, but they did the dip and are no longer around. I like 034's linear throttle remap the most of any of them now but you won't be upset with any of them!

Jackal Motorsports is releasing there b9 tune soon and I am planning on going with them. They have been reliable with there tunes in the past and can't imagine them disappointing with the b9 tunes. They also have the ability to flash from home like, 034, APR and IE. Another reason I am going with them is because the tune is a 1 time purchase and you don't have to spend extra money when you plan on switching from stage 1 to stage 2 in the future. But if I were to tune my car right now I would go with 034, I have a few friends who have been tuned with 034 for over 2 years and have had no problems.

It’s a shame they roll their own single rather than using DEADBEEF with ENET.
