    Audi a3 transmission

I have a question, I have a 2015 Audi a3 Quattro, trans is done, had a mechanical failure. I brought one but it was a different code.
I have a puq, the one I brought is a qsn. It?s literally off the same car.

So the question is, if I were to put my mechatronics that I have on my car right now and put it on the trans I ordered, would I still have to code it?

I think a lot more than just a ?no? would help lol. I?m doing this on my own, so I?m just curious mike.

So I wouldn?t have an issue ? I can just swap that mecha and put it on the one I ordered and I?ll be good to drive her again? Been almost a year and I miss her already.

Your question: "if I were to put my mechatronics that I have on my car right now and put it on the trans I ordered, would I still have to code it?"

No. You wouldn't have to recode the mech unit cause its matched to the car.

The mech unit out of the replacement gearbox from another car would need to be coded.

So who here has done such a swap? Anyone? No one...

For me I would find all the info I can on the two gearboxs to figure out exactly what the differences are... research. You would become an Audi DSG expert!

    I researched a replacement motor for my 2015 Audi S3. Which I pulled from a 2015 Audi Q5.

Only person who would know anything about such...is a person who has done such. No one here that I ever heard of...so I was on my own.

Same probably goes for your puq to qsn swap.

So your wanting that one person who has done such and spent allot of time and effort researching to see if its even possible...

I would say your the first. At least posting on this forum...

If I was doing the puq to qsn swap I would research it. To verify if its even possible. Mainly to not waste time money and effort.

Personally your original mech unit I wouldn't even worry about.

I would concern myself with the mechanicals of the gearbox.

Good luck finding any data and VW/Audi dont release much of anything on such....

In my opinion it looks like Audi has different drive gears ratios for the different models....reason for the different gearbox codes.

Im still trying to find confirming information on this...especially with the S3 to A3 gearbox differences

I replaced DQ250 on my A3 8P 3 years ago. Used the mechatronics from the original transmission. It was plug and play. Your 2015 should be the same. The hardest part was to align the transmission when installing it back while the car was on jack stands. Replaced the rear main seal and the flywheel while I was there.

Was yours a different coded trans from the original? I?ve done lots and lots of research but come up empty.

But tmmrw is the day my buddy drops the trans and does the swap. So wish me luck, I?ll update once my buddy gives me confirmation.

But when I brought this used trans, it was literally off the same car has mine , 6 speed quattro.

But at the end I came up short, but hey, maybe I'll be the first one? My buddy will be swapping out my trans and mecha unit these up coming day. Hopefully everythinf turns out fine. I'll be updating this forum soon hoping it reaches someone that has the similar question.

    Thanks mike!!

Mike I was unlucky.. Now with the used trans in my car will not run. It turns on, no error code. Connected to vag and it's shows it communicating with the trans.

So quick insight, originally car came with a puq trans. Brought a qsn trans. Swapped my mechatronics into the used trans I purchased.

Maybe if I put the mechatronics that the used purchased trans came with, and just get it coded, maybe will fix the issue?

Did anyone visually inspect the two mechatronic units to make sure they were same?

Was your original mechatronic damaged? Like during removal?

Who originally diagnosed the DSG failed from a mechanical issue and not a mechatronic issue? Or both...

You need a OBD reader that reads the DSG for codes...it will tell you whats wrong.

Mike scratch that, unplugged battery, plugged back in after a few min. Did a clutch adaptation, turned her on. And she's good, took it for a spin for a few, went too all gears smooth and downshifted smooth.

Now I fight the CADMV.. Wish me luck with them.
