Looks like this should be released shortly. Already seeing tuners dropping huge numbers with their beta kits. Im planning on picking up a kit when released. Id like to use this thread to discuss maps, features, questions etc from those of us who go down this rabbit hole...

I prefer to tune my own vehicles. These days the "flash tuners" dont let us do that. So, more reason for Syvecs...

There's a lot of information out already from the 8V. Features and all that will probably be the same. You're going to tune your RS3 yourself?

If you want a 9 second car with all things Iroz on your RS3, the Syvecs is the obvious choice, but if you're looking for Stage 1, 1+ or even Stage 2 on pump gas, it's not worth it. I'll probably go JB4. The downside is - no TCU flash, but I can live with that.

I guess this all means that the stock ecu truly can’t be tuned, that’s pretty incredible

Allegedly Unitronic has a tune in development. Fingers Crossed! I think the entry price for Syvecs will be too high for those just wanting stage 2.

Agree, I do think a lot of folks would be very happy with stage 1+ or stage 2 (dp's, intake, injectors and some ethanol) via flash to the ecu. Not everyone wants to build a motor and go syvec's. Granted, it seems what is the only option though to achieve this. Still lerry of the JB4 or not, never used one.

Would a Syvecs ECU even pass emissions? I assume not.

    Great question. Who knows?

I've modded almost every vehicle I've ever owned. It's just always been a hobby of mine, but as I've gotten older (and hopefully wiser), I've realized that every time you put an aftermarket piece on your car, it just leaves more room for failure and that car not having the longevity and/or the fit & finish of how that car came from the factory. You can either live with those things or if you're like me, you're sick of it. I've got a '17 WRX with almost every bolt-on imaginable. From adjustable coil-overs, chassis braces, control arms, camber plates, sway bars, exhaust, header, intercooler, Cobb tune, etc... the car is fun, but the suspension creaks and pops sometimes when it's cold. It's a bouncy ride and terrible over the pot-hole ridden roads of NJ. The exhaust smells fumy because of the high-flow cat in my J-pipe and my tune, which probably runs rich. The car is white and the back end of it turns black on a weekly basis because of the tune (maybe it's a bad tune? I dunno). The car put down 338whp, but I get an occasional miss-fire code when it's cold outside and I've had issues at the NJ DMV stations getting the car inspected because they can never see my catalytic converter. So, I guess what I'm saying is that it's just a big pain in the arse to have an extensively modded car. When I decided to get the 8Y, I vowed to stay simple. The car is ridiculously fast out of the box. I mean come on - 10-15 years ago, you could only get to 60mph in 3.5 and the 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds in an exotic and now we're doing it in a $65,000 Audi. I remind myself of that every time I get the urge to squeeze it down to 3.2 and 11.2.

Stage 1 pump gas, 480 at wheels I would be happy. E85 is too much risk of sludge accumulation, see "When E85 Sucks" on youtube

Exactly. Maybe Stage 1+, TCU tune, turbo inlet and a cat-back. 480 wheel in a 3,600lb car is a great thrust to weight ratio.

Stage 1 pump gas is not going to be 480whp. There's no need to be scared about E85 at all, sludge accumulation seems overdramatic. He mentions it only happened because the car was only driven for short distances. Literally almost every DAZA is running E85. It's too easy on these cars not to. If you don't have nearby access to E85 then that's another story.

My understanding it does not connect to obd2 so in many states no way to smog it.

Well, that's going to be a no-go here in Jersey, as if the price wasn't enough of a turn-off.

Bro. It's a new car in NJ. You can run a syvecs here for YEARS before needing an inspection. And even then...just don't get inspected..pay the fine if you get a ticket...

I have no idea, but they might offer bench flashing like other tuning companies that are already doing that. Either way, they’ll probably release it in “2 weeks” just like their flex fuel.

    "Only available through dealers"...

You contact a dealer, and they wont simply sell you the kit....upsales, questions, hassle....Like buying a car through a dealership instead of recognizing the Tesla direct to consumer sales model is the best.

    PITA.

And the 8Y guys will be able to soon.

Syvecs is for a different type of buyer looking for full control of the car and features beyond what the stock ECU is capable of.

Also the ability to self tune is highly desirable.

Sorry, but the JB4 will satisfy the itch until something more economical hits the market.

ya, plus the TCU is still locked, so unless you are planning on doing a 6MT swap (which would be cool), you are SOL with building much power past Stage I

IROZ has run 8.97 in the 1/4 mile without a TCU tune on their 8Y that's putting down 1100whp on the Syvecs. Upgraded clutch, but all done on the stock TCU tune.

Yea the TCU being locked isnt a game breaker, they have some control of signals being sent to it to keep it "happy".
