Cost to replace 2017 Q7 rear spring cups/mounts?

    Hey guys,

Dealer recommended new rear spring mounts/cups as they state they are deteriorating, could slip, break springs and cause all sorts of chaos, plus alignment, etc.. Proposed pricing seems really high (about $2K)....

Any sense of what the cost should be, and is this a two jack, plus stands DIY but for alingment?

It's pretty common on models that use this design. The mount has an metal insert that corrodes then causes the rubber around it to deteriorate, especially in areas with road salt. Eventually it'll break apart. Some people have had their springs break along with this.

The rear spring lower seats are $34 a piece https://www.audiusaparts.com/oem-par...eat-4m0512297b

I paid my euro shop under $500 for them to do it (using Audi parts) while dealer wanted $1400 (noted during recommended services). The DIY isn't terrible. Jack, stands, spring compressor, and typical hand tools. Here's a DIY: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...eplacement-DIY

Thank you! I hate (hate) spring compressors. having done total suspension on old BMWs, I must be getting to old, fat, lazy or all three. If I can pay $500 labor, plus parts (let's say $100 for lower cups and all hardware) and a bit more for 4 wheel alignment, that would be great compared to dealer quote. I'll put the car in the air, clear suspension, check the lower cups/mounts and metal surrounding to see if the claim is as worrysome as they made it seem when I swap winter wheels and tires to summer gear over the next week or two.
