Cost to replace 2017 Q7 Engine Mounts

    Hey guys,

Our 2017 Q7 3.0 is in the shop for a new starter (big bummer from a cost perspective) and, the dealer suggested we get new engine mounts for about $2,400 due to signs of leaking hydraulic fluid. No rough idle, etc.. Sounds expensive, and not currently necessary.

At 95K miles, not sure how many more years we'd have the car.

    Any sense of:

    (1) how many miles we can get out of allegeldy leaking mounts?
    (1) how much a leg indy would charge for the job?

It was noted that our mounts were leaking at 86k but no harsh NVH or other indications of "bad" mounts. Audi wanted $2500, the euro indy did it for $1500 using OEM mounts. The mounts are what's pricey at $4xx per side. Labor was around 5 hours.

If you're not planning on keeping her much longer, I would say leave it as is. These mounts supposedly can leak for a long time before the mount itself goes bad (collapses, NVH, etc.) but YMMV depending on how long it's been leaking already and condition of the rubber.

Thank you both. Even at $200 per hour (including shop supplies, taxes, etc....) it seems the job should be well under $2K. I called an indy who had done tuning for me in the past. They suggested it's likely the car won't really need mounts or anything suspension related for a while. Suggested next oil change they'd check everything and give me best guess and estimate on a per job/total basis. But, costs would be substantially lower than dealer. Oil change less than dealer - so, I'm saving money right there.

Meanwhile, the Q drives like a tall luxury car even with "high miles." Don't want to spend money where unnecessary and don't want to replace it.
