    Soundaktor Disable Options

I’m about a month in to ownership of my ‘24 S5 Sportback. For the first few weeks, I actually enjoyed all the fun engine noises and it sort of aided in learning the car, and even found myself often turning off the stereo and just enjoying the beautiful music the car made.

I always knew the soundaktor was a thing, but stumbled on the “Quiet” setting in Individual drive mode setup. Damn, what a difference. It feels like a well insulated luxury car now, and I don’t have to crank the stereo all the way up to hear it while driving. After leaving it like that for a couple days now when I go back to Dynamic the soundaktor just seems kinda ridiculous and silly.

Basically, I’m ready to leave it behind for good. Especially with a box of Bruce Miranda goodies on the way. From my understanding the options to remove it are:

    1. Quiet setting in Individual mode, which I assume is not 100% elimination?

    2. Unplug soundaktor device

    3. Remove fuse for soundaktor

    4. Code it out (I’m not set up for that yet)

Is one option better than the other? Are their any negative consequences to unplugging or fuse removal (CEL, etc)?

And finally, is there any functional difference between Dynamic mode and Individual with all settings set to Sport? The car seems to drive different, but it honestly just may be the change in sound and my brain is interpreting quieter/smoother as lower performance.

If you have access to OBDII or VCDS, coding it off is probably the cleanest and quickest.

obd11 and carista haven't broken the new SFD2 unlock in '24 models yet. if you get vcds to work, please let us know.

Is this true? Can others confirm if soundaktor on 2024 S5 cannot be turned off with Carista or OBDEleven yet? Was thinking about getting the Carista app for a month and use my Vgate OBD2 to turn the sound off. This seems to be the cheapest option. OBDEleven just to expensive.

VCDS worked on my '24 SQ5. i recall seeing a post on ross tech forums that mentioned something about the VIN having an "R" in some spot which required a software update.

it should work on the latest version available (23.11), unless there's a build date cutoff like there is for the proper OLED tail light package from europrice.

For 2024 models there is the ability to get most coding done after a remote unlock. However there are still some modules that cannot be unlocked: [19], [46], [5F]. If you want to do DIY coding or finish off a retrofit kit that has a coding dongle that doesn't require one of those modules above this is available:

Website Link: VAS5054A Interface Remote Module Unlocking <-Click Link for More Information

This gives you 90 minutes of time to do coding, adaptation changes, etc on a 2024 model that is locked down.

I turned Soundaktor off using my OBDII. I have a 2024 RS5 Comp, delivered last month.

The OBDII did not have a 2024 A5 option (only showing 2023), but I forced it to work as an 2023 model. So far, I have coded turning off the engine sound, DRL on only when E brakes are off, Easy Entry (seat moves back). No issues.

I went old school and pulled the fuse within the first couple months of ownership. It sounds like garbage imo, I dont miss it one bit.
