    A6 headlight upgrade

    Hi there,

    1. I have a A6 2013 with the xenon headlights. I'm looking forward to get some really good looking aftermarket headlights that are plug-and-play if your car is with the xenon headlights. The issue is that the seller told me that if my car is equipped with the AFS they are not going to work - how to check that for sure?

    2. I'm also interested in upgrading them with the original full led headlights. I have searched the forums but without a luck. What is the procedure and is even possible without much work?

    Thank you so much.

You can tell if your A6 w/xenon headlights has AFS by driving around curves at night and seeing if your headlights “turn” in the direction you turn the steering wheel (note: this is not the same effect as the cornering light turning on when turning left or right, but the entire headlight beam curving subtly when taking curves on a road.) I have the Xenon w/AFS and I had looked for a long time at trying to swap to the LED headlights. There are two popular Chinese aftermarket headlight assemblies (one is a C8 style and the other is the C7 LED style). It is rather cost prohibitive to do a full LED retrofit as new wiring is needed + headlight computer modules. Decided to just get a pair of LED D3S bulbs that DeAutoLED advertises about on this forum. Couldn’t be happier now!

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm looking forward to get the C8 style headlights.

My beam is not moving left or right, never noticed it, but when I start the car for example I see on the wall infront of me that the lights are going down then up. Is that something to do with AFS? On low speed when I turn the steering wheel left or right the additional little bulb in the headlight is turning on.
