Just remove the seat. No additional parts needed.

Yeah, the stern kit is literally just a piece of carpet that has the approximate shape of the hole you leave when you have the seat removed and a bar that replaces the slide in privacy piece, it doesn’t do anything.

While I agree with the above two sentiments, I must admit that my car feels cheap with the back seats out and no proper delete. I, too, would like to have a rear seat delete and have had many conversations with Stern about his. Lead times and communication can sometimes leave a lot to be desired, however. I do believe there are other options out there but, I'm at the point where I'm just going to go to a custom upholstery place within my area and ask them to whip me up something--to include a proper way of separating the trunk area from the cabin.

Too expensive, too short & no reply!

I recently installed the Stern kit after a 4-month wait and found it to be about 2"(51mm) too short front to rear if the carpet is not stretched taught over the step in the floor behind where the rear seats mounted. Even if you stretch it out, after a 10-minute ride it pulls back exposing the painted floor in the front.

I sent them a message regarding this issue and the fact that I was overcharged based on the price they advertise on their site and received no reply whatsoever. I'm writing this off as them seeing me as some stupid American and them not giving a damn. After seeing what they deliver for the price, I am a stupid American! I will eventually just go to an upholstery shop locally in Indianapolis to have it resolved. Their kit is WAY TOO expensive for what was delivered.

I didn't pay close attention as I was placing a large number of orders with various vendors for winter track upgrades and was shocked to see this kit charging a lot more than what the advertised. Price is advertised as €359.00 + shipping for my kit with their basic bar (no special options) and should have equated to about $620 total not $530.55 + $230.00 shipping!! I didn't really discover the discrepancy until over a month after it was delivered and not much to do except sending them a message. Not surprised that I got nothing back. I will never work with them again and advise you to avoid them as well. Brew

Hmm, not a good sign. I ordered just the carpet, yep delivery is just about as much as the carpet itself. After several months "in production" it's in DHL hands now.

If it's not worthy, it's over the upholstery shop.

Wow ! I hope they at least realize there's a difference in height and length of the intersection between the rear seat platform and the rest of the trunk, between the TT/TTS & TT RS - due to the latter NOT having a full spare to deal with - this is most notable in the Mk3. I found this out when finding the 2 different versions (P/Ns) of the Audi Sport CF cross-bar kit, which includes a carpeted piece to replace the rear seat. I first installed it into my Mk3 TTS, and then transferred to my TT RS and had to 'build' a short gap-filling piece of similarly upholstered long-wide block of foam...

AP makes a nice but not cheap (but MUCH cheaper than Audi Sport) CF panel for the floor though -

Let me clarify my previous statement. I saw you wanted it asap so I assumed it was for a race event which was stupid of me. If you are trying to get it for an event than there’s really no reason to rush it, I’d just take out the seat.

Here are pictures of mine with a little more detail than you’ll get elsewhere. I was not happy about not being able to find proper photos when I ordered mine.

This may be exactly my issue. I am covering the 2-3" gap in the back with my Weather Tech cargo area mat to keep the front lined up with the back of the console but just annoyed me for as much as they charged for their kit. Then they blow me off when I emailed them. Buyer beware! Brew

    Here's my issue.

If I pull the carpet forward to be flush with the console then it's short in the rear.

On a side note, I did add a spare kit and cover to move a bit of weight further to the rear as I find it helps with rear grip mid-corner. However, that did not add any height or change the length that the carpet should have been. Perhaps I could get a piece of square foam to fill-in the space under the carpet at the step to allow it to reach further forward. I just thought it was supposed to be flush against the floor. Looks like MTWallace85 has that part stretched over that area versus following the line of the floor. I also don't seem to have the small winged protrusions on the sides.

I have colored stitching so I didn’t want to hide the edges under the interior body panels. But also, I wanted to hide the edges of the panels because I’m super ocd about certain things and that just wasn’t doing it for me; it’s not something you’d ever see in a car from the factory. I’m pretty sure the AP seat delete fits into everything like an OEM+ part would and should.

Automotive Passion is crazy expensive but looks really clean for the carpeted delete. I wouldnt go for a lay down carpet on such a nice car imo, but it certainly is cheaper.

The Automotive Passion or OEM kit are the only way to go IMHO. Either option is not cheap though

the AP kit is amazing!! Fitment looks great. The other option is simply build a base out of base boards from Home depot. Find the OEM carpet, carpet over it and boom, a nice and clean DIY look without breaking the bank.

I wonder what is underneath the AP carpet and how much it weighs all in for carpet.

This may or may not be of interest to people. This company makes a seat delete more comparable to the AP one but I believe for much cheaper. If the prices haven’t changed since I asked them a while ago, the alcantara seat delete is $800 and the carbon club sport bar is $560. Shipping with the seat delete was $348 because it’s a big box coming from overseas. Just the bar was $95. I think this seat delete may utilize the stock hatchback flooring which is probably a good move in my opinion.

This is cool too, that had a prototype carbon fiber half cage that never went into production.

I actually tried to put the carbon bar and carpet seat delete into the checkout for Automotive Passion / MTM USA and when you go to checkout, it says their store cant accept payments right now. Wondering if those arent available anymore.

First of all, Automotive Passion was amazingly fast in response when I reached out directly and extremely helpful and detailed. I've attached some details they provided and weights/etc. They left me a 3min voicemail as well accordingly with full details. Absolutely top notch service. Pics attached, most of which are not on the website but from customer cars instead, details below:

    - Carbon seat delete is extremely thick and durable, tested to 80kg of weight put on it without damage. Weight is 4.1kg for the carbon delete.

    - Carpeted seat delete is underlined by thick ABS plastic, tested to 80kg of weight put on it without damage. Weight is 6kg for the fabric delete.

    - Carbon bar is 2kg on its own.

So total weight added is 13.42lbs for the carbon bar/delete setup and 17.6lbs for the carpeted seat delete instead. Carbon bar and delete are in stock, the carpeted is a 6 week build time as they have not made any in a few. Very tempted to pick up one of these pairs and try it out now.

SAPerformance is legit. I have their kit and it strikes a nice balance between $ and quality. They are on IG only but very responsive. That Stern kit looks pretty bad for a piece of carpet. And yes, you will hear more clunks and exhaust sound from the rear.

I have the Audi Sport performance parts version and can say that it allows a small amount of additional exhaust sounds but nothing dramatic enough to keep me from doing it -

I actually LIKE the additional space in the now-vacant rear seat area, even with the CF cross brace ... If it weren't for CAFE at least, I'd've guessed that Audi might've made this a factory option in the RS...

Lay your seats down and it will give you a good idea of the sound. I used to do that from time to time...it's nice noise.

Just a quick sound test of sound level inside the cabin - 3.5" Ti exhaust, no rear seats, no carpet over removed area.

82dB is pretty tiring over time, especially when most of that energy is in the 60-125Hz range. This range is where you get most of your lower midbass kick in music. 200-500Hz is where most instruments are. 85-92dB is house rocking loud. Windows were up doing about 70-75MPH in 7th. I think there's a lot of panel resonance, I can place my hand on the rear seat section and alter vibration/sound ever so slightly. Any better stuff than Dynamat now?

I actually LIKE the additional space in the now-vacant rear seat area, even with the CF cross brace ... If it weren't for CAFE at least, I'd've guessed that Audi might've made this a factory option in the RS...
This is what I’d do if I had the opportunity now. I think the AP one is more or less the same, though. Any idea? Did you get a chance to weigh yours? Is it carpeted? Ordering as a factory option would have been great.

82dB is pretty tiring over time, especially when most of that energy is in the 60-125Hz range. Mine sits around 90db most of the time but dips to somewhere between 80db and 85db at a perfect cruise. It was getting as loud as 105db during acceleration and that wasn’t WOT redline, it was more like 30%-50% pedal up to maybe 5500rpms.

I’m definitely going to be switching it up at some point because my next purchase is a pair of recaro podiums, a roll cage, and harnesses so I can meet safety restrictions for events I plan to race in.

Please keep us (and me!) posted on the Recaro Podiums. Huge weight savings so I've been considering them for sure.

The AP is a near clone, it has a short cross piece in the center V that the AS version does not have - and the Audi Sport logo is clear coated not a sticker. When I weighed it, it was 3.3kg including the internal cables... The seat delete panel is carpeted to match the interior fabric and weighs 3.7kg with the fiber-board backing. I have not put a fixed weight on it, but have stored all kinds of stuff (my 60 lb pittie once jumped in cuz the door was open) on it without concern.

These parts are NLA - and a few (like 3) have made it into the states. I bought and brought mine back in 2018 when they were first released in the EU and I was there.

Got the new Stern carpet, this one fits well, not short. Tucks in snuggly around the edges, I tucked the ears under the trim. Rubber coated backing. Weighs 7.3 pounds. Will try another sound check soon to see if it helped at all.

I’ve contacted SAPerformance today to get one of their kits. Waiting to hear back. I expect them to say they need a few people to be interested to do another run.

They got back to me! They’ll give a hefty discount if 3 of us place an order together. They have some stock currently as well. Anyone else in?

Check out an upholsterer that specializes in old school hot rods, a high end stereo fabricator and an exotics wrap shop, they will know someone that will do what you want.
