Recieved 3 faults pertaining to the EPB on the car last week.
U041700 INVALID DATA RECIEVED FROM PARK BRAKE CONTROL MODULE.
U111300 FUNCTION LIMITATION DUE TO RECIEVED MALFUNCTION VALUE.
C100D01/ C100D12 LEFT PARKING BRAKE MOTOR VOLTAGE SUPPLY FAULTS.
After doing some research I found that TSB 2039187/2 was released June 2019 for these exact faults.. basically states its a known issue and to check the parking brake motors V282(driver) and V283 (passenger) for any damage to the motor and wiring.. if theres no damage found and the codes are still there replace the EPB module (J540). I searched AZ and multiple other forums but couldn't find anything on location or how to replace the EPB ECU/module on a C7, so here ya go.
The vehicle this was done on was my wife's Glacier white MY14 A6 prem+.
Steps below correspond to the pictures.
1. Access the passenger side of the trunk. Disconnect your battery. Then unclip the (2) clips holding the net and bar.
2. Turn the clips 90 degrees and pull them out.
3. Pull the cubby out and disconnect the 12V power plug from the back.
4. Remove the one 10mm nut that retains the fuse panel bracket and the mounting foot of the other bracket/panel thats covering the EPB ECU to the outside of the fuse panel.
5. Once the fuse panel is loose you will have to wiggle the fuse panel to get the (2) tabs loose and out of their retainer holes hidden under the carpet. The tabs have a little lip so the fuse panel has to be tilted in order to get it fully out.
6. Once the fuse panel is free, tie it up and out of the way. (I used a bungee cord to the trunk arm). There are (2) more 10mm nuts that hold the bracket/panel thats covering the EPB ECU. (1) forward of the connector and (1) to the outside of the first nut. Once those are removed you can lift up the cover to reveal the EPB ECU.
7. The EPB ECU is free to lift up and out to access the connector.
8. Pull out on the black connector lock until it stops and the connector disengages and you can take the connector off.
I removed 4H0-907-801G model and installed a 4H0-907-801L model.
Installation is reverse. Once everything is back connected including the battery, I used my OBDeleven to clear any faults that came up and exercised the parking brakes 3 cycles of opening and closing. I made sure that I could hear both sides operating and then scanned the vehicle for any faults. Then had some whiskey.20240217_182504.jpg20240217_181500.jpg20240217_172308.jpg20240217_180902.jpg20240217_170704.jpg20240217_162210.jpg20240217_162128.jpg20240217_162336.jpg20240217_162419.jpg20240217_162515.jpg
