    quick question about exhaust clamp

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My Sons A4 2.0T manual just ruptured the flex joint.. anyone know if its the 55mm by 95mm clamp or the 50mm by 95mm sleeve clamp for that car ?

    NM i found it

for those looking in the future it is the 55mm by 95mm clamp .

Doing this job is much easier if you drop the cat and flex pipe tigether, you need room under the car to do it but you undo the oxygen sensors, unbolt the cat from the tubo, undo the sleeve clamp , then unbolt the flex pipe retaining bolt .

Then the whole assembly drops out.

replace flex pipe and put in new gasket, between flex and cat, raise it back into place. put on new sleeve clamp , but retaining bolt back in, replace turbo to cat gasket , bolt turbo back up, put O2 sensors back in ... done

tools to get that last turbo to cat bolt

am i the only one that seems to have to do this every 4 years or so ?

Every 4 yrs? Must be those harsh Ontario winters. Bought new in 2008 - just had my factory original flex pipe replaced Jan 2024 at around 224,000 km. It's had Revo Stage 1 since 5000 km, not that that should affect flex pipe life.

yeah tonnes of salt .. plus aftermarket ones are crap ... rust out fast. but just can't justify an Audi one. first one lasted 255k km now it's got 338 and I've put 2 in, needs a third lol

Wondering if some type of shielding could be installed to prevent all the salt from directly hitting it.....
