K24 turbo setup?

Hey just wondering... I know these turbos are capable of a very quick spool and huge hp... I remember talking to a Dahlback guy at WF12 telling me his B5 ran an 11.5 with a monster K24... Has it ever been brought up?

There is a guy named John who has the MTM Stage 4 that uses this. He is still fine tuning it. IIRC there are actually more TT cars using these in the US than A4 cars. It seems to be an alternative to a gt28rs but it'll cost you.

well I know the K04 can be crazy good... Like the boost comes in around 3000 and is good for like 400whp... at least thats what the guy was saying to me from Dahlback, if so I wouldnt be able to wipe the smile off my face every time I got out of my car heh... I fully believe that JJ ran a 13.3

Sportec ran a K16 on their B6 RS300 car, But I don't think they sell the setup. It was a custom job.

Yea isnt Scott running that on his B7? I remember hearing that his car pretty much is an RS300 B7 somewhere...

It must have been this car.. It was TJM's (TMJ?) Dalhback A4, they showed it a few years back at the New Dimensions show.. Here are some pics!

I cant remember off the top of my head, but it was in a magazine about a year or so back.. I wanna say it was in the 300hp range, but i dunno for sure..

youd think so but the turbo is not huge your looking at the external wastegate with it also... and let me tell you those K24s spool up VERY QUICKLY... kind of like a K04 but with much more power

I like the turbo and spooling quicker ... the intake mani and stuff even though I know it works well, looks like a welded up POS!

well the turbo is a unit off the RS2 and you can find them on ebay. The problem is that you need a new manifold probably and an external wasteagate.

The k24 is comparable to what garrett gt series turbo in terms of power. Which would it be compared to in spool up. I heard its quick but is it ko4 quick or gt28rs quick?
What makes it so special?

The intake mani your talking about is so crappy... Its like $2100 retail and shows no gains...

As for the turbo and wastegate, many companies make setups for K24s so finding those parts isnt that bad...

The manifold would be a bitch... but also tuning... Im assuming it would be pretty hard to get a tune for that?

At TAP (Total Audi Performance) they have k24 hybrids available for only $1525. That sounds pretty reasonable. Wouldn't Apr's or Revo's bt software work with it or would it have to be tweeked quite a bit.

OK I emailed TAP about their K24 and also some other place that I saw online supposedly made a K04 hybrid running like 270whp on 91... Sounded kinda sketch but I e-mailed them so well see...

I am the guy with the MTM K24 setup on b6. The official numbers claimed by MTM is 286 BHP (engine power) on a manual quattro. Since my ride is a CVT FWD, the number predicted by MTM is 270 BHP due to the limitation of CVT. I did a dyno on MAHA LPS3000 (the same dynometer employed by MTM) two weeks ago. The numbers I achieved are 314 BHP/384.5 Nm @4th gear and 268.3 BHP/386.8 Nm @5th gear.

This kit is the so called "custom modification" of MTM and is not listed on their website. However, you can find an review on this kit in the following link (it's a b5 though)

those numbers seem really low... and the power comes in at 5000rpms? I could have sworn that turbo is a real quick spool with lots of power....

290 sounds like all the programs they sell here.
they all claim to use custom build turbo's.

K24's used to be considered small turbos in my old 5000tq/200tq days. There are thousands of them in junkyards and on rebuilder's shelves. The RS2 turbo is actually a K24/26 hybrid.

This could be the ultimate cheap BT upgrade if one could figure out the software.

If this is the Silver B5, I saw it run at New England Dragway a couple of years ago.

If I recall correctly it was running high 12's maybe mid 12's at best. Caged and lightened. They were having tranny issues at the time I think so it was not running at 100%.

Sounded pretty gnarly.

Hey I have a K24 on my car.. It is a 5cyl. though.

John's car is a CVT and I believe the tunning has been finallized and its pushing slightly over 300 hp at the crank. But the lagging prob is def there.

I am doing the K16 with custom tuning. I will be pushing about 275hp crank...I am also CVT.
