Question Best brand for upper control arm replacement?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm looking at replacing upper control arms soon and am asking for opinions on which kit/brand has the longest lasting rubber bushings.

034 is looking to be the best choice here for me as it has a higher durometer rubber which may slow down splitting and increase lifespan.

They also claim low NVH levels which works out for me as it's for my daily driver.

-Will the harder rubber affect handling/harshness any noticeable amount?
-Will it mess with handling if I have only their uppers with stock lowers?
-Any opinions on the different brands?

Anything FCP Euro sells is typically good quality. They offer the 034 kit, but for a daily driver, I wouldn't spend the extra $100. I like that the Meyle kit comes with new hardware. You are going to feel an improvement regardless of what you chose if the bushing are shot. Whether you can tell a difference between a new set of TRW or Meyle vs 034 would be negligible imo. What year and mileage are you at?

If you look at the 034 arms compared to the stock or OEM replacement arms, there is a huge difference. Especially if your car is lowered or you're planning to lower it. The adjustable uppers are beautiful billet aluminum and should outlast the car.

The stock ones or oem replacement ones are going to fail just like the factory ones do eventually.

034 is selling theirs for about $260 on their website, hardware included. I think the meyle hd kit was around $230-$260 last I checked.

I wouldn't be getting the adjustable 034 ones though as I won't be lowering the car any more than 0.8" - 1", and the camber adjustment wouldn't be used.

If the 034 ones last even 10-20k more miles than standard OEM I will gladly go with them for the extra 30 dollars.

    I'm at 85k in a 2011.

Wow FCP needs to lower their prices on the 034 set. They are listed at $322, I didn't realize the hardware was included since not shown in pic, but it does say in description. Meyle's are currently $229, but since you get the 034 set for only $36 more, it's not much difference.

I doubt you will still be driving the car at 170k+ miles to see that extra 10-20k more miles out of them, but I digress.

Ultimately, our Density Line Control arms do not typically add much NVH, and I doubt that they would be noticeable (NVH wise) after install.

These should easily outlast the OE control arms, and have lasted upwards of 80k+ miles on various other platforms.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I will add that I bought the meyle hd kit. I didn’t like the lower rear bushings. I ended up replacing the lower rears a year later with Delphi lowers from fcp with the hydraulic bushings. Road noise and sharp edge bumps are drastically reduced compared to the meyle hds.

034, meyle, and oem all use a different style lower rear bushing. I have not tried 034 but I can say I didn’t like the harshness of the meyle.
