    Question Audi A6 C7.5 Stage 2 - Recommended Upgrades

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,
Recently, I tuned my A6 C7.5 3.0T Stage 1 (ECU+ TCU) from Jackal Motorsports, and I'll confirm that the car feels ALIVE! I love it so far, that I'm going to Stage 2 Single Pulley (SC pulley 57mm from CTS Turbo) because, why not? The upgrade is free. Now my question is this: What would you guys install for optimal performance when I go stage 2? I have done lots of research, yes. My engine's health is in great condition. Piston compressions are within value; good injectors; a perfectly clean throttle body, thermostat is good, water pump is good, no leaks or mixings, PCV seems to perform fine; every single fluid changed 3 months ago; 4 months oil change interval, drivetrain mount inserts (trans + diff), 034 motorsports density line mounts, sway bars etc. Solenoids recently changed, entire system is bled (no vacuum), brand new NGK 2669 BKR9EIX (gapped to 0.028", they run colder), etc. Mind you, I do 90% of the services myself because I have access to a full garage with all the tools necessary. I know, so lucky!

Where I live, it's very cold, and won't change until March - April or even May, so I can hold on from getting a merc racing HX paired with either cwa100 or cwa150 for NOW. I will not be pushing the car a lot until I have better cooling options. If im not gonna push, why go stage 2 you might think? Because it's free. Cold air intake is in my wish-list but I'm looking for something more of value. I did a few tests with a CAI on my friends A6 (stage 2 sp) and we didn't really notice a HUGE difference in CFM or temps. Maybe downpipes to eliminate some back pressure. JBX driveshaft carrier is good, but heard a few NVH concerns (i don't really care)

I just want to know what you guys would purchase to keep up with the performance of stage 2 sp. My budget right now is ~550-600$ (besides a hx, cwa150 or CAI). Tell me your ideas. Once i get better cooling, i might get a 179 or 187mm crank pulley (common failure).

What’s your suspension and brake setup?

I'd do a lower pulley vs upper, as lowers are less prone to slip issues. I'd be looking at brakes next. The A-series brakes weren't exactly made for hard driving.

Stock suspension, a bit harsh because of mounts and sway bars but I’m happy overall.

Brakes: Zimmerman Z-Coated Rotors (front + rear) and Akebono Euro Ceramic Brake Pads. They still have a year left I’d guess.

So, shall i get a crank one instead of sc pulley? Which size is better for normal stage 2 ratio? (2.84 sc pulley) contemplating between 179mm and 187mm.

Yes, actually. The kickdown is much faster and shifts are crispier. When u gear down and push it, it delivers super nicely. The car feels so much more 'active' and it is a significant difference. You will not get disappointed.

    Audi A6 C7.5 Stage 2 - Recommended Upgrades

You don't need a higher flow intake with the jackal single pulley stg 2 tune?

They say that you need it, and I do not doubt that. However, I want something for now that will be most beneficial in keeping my intercoolers and engine safe. I do need a HX, actually. I won't push the car a lot to the point that my stock airbox will be useless.. (for now)

Stage 1 shouldn't demand any cooling mods. I'd think you'd want to add the parts that the tuner recommend so in this case more air to the motor.

I’ve been running Stg2 Single pulley for some time now on my C7.5. I run a RS7 Airbox with RTX silicon hose and BMC filter. I would probably benefit from a HX, but haven’t gotten one in the 2+ years I’ve had this setup.

I also have all similar supporting upgrades that you mentioned. Inserts, sway bars/links, brakes, etc.

I’d say get a nice set of tires on there as well, Pilot Sports or similar.

Having an HX on a hot day means the difference between dropping the hammer for a few gears and then doing it again with no difference. An example is on a hot day, merging onto the highway and then maybe 30 seconds later passing somone to get into a lane. With no HX, you will notice it got soggy and doesn't feel as great. In the winter, a huge HX can store a lot of cold liquid on a highway run. Above 2000 the pump comes on, unless you've cut the control wire, and the car enters beast mode for quite some time. It completes the package as you just don't think about it and enjoy the same performance whenever and wherever you want.

I would do the HX next, I never ran an upgrade pump on my STG2 DP+ E40, ported SC , TB and elbow on A6. Then I'd do brakes and suspension.

You know in all my years, I don't think I've ever done brakes and suspension first. First you make sure your car has enough horsepower to plow into a house and destroy it, THEN you worry about stopping or turning!
