    Aftermarket Car Insurance

Hey guys, general question about car insurance (and I guess Audicare since I’m curious). From my understanding, Audicare is something you get with a brand new car (or CPO) from the dealer, that covers certain services up to a certain mileage, right? Either way, I’m looking to get a 2016-2018 RS7 with mileage between 20-40k range. From your experience, did you guys go with aftermarket insurance from the dealer, or did you find your own? And how much was it? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Yes Audi Care is prepaid scheduled maintenance. It covers everything listed in the vehicles scheduled maintenance chart. Packages can be purchased that cover up to 80k or 90k miles depending on the year of your RS7. Car doesn't need to be new or CPO. You can find the details on Audi USA website.

I never had a dealer try and sell me insurance, so can't speak to that.

I would say that Audicare is not an insurance policy as much as it’s a prepaid maintenance plan that covers your recommended services at scheduled intervals (10k, 20k, 30k, etc.)

And you can purchase Audicare on a used RS7 with 30-40k mileage, if you want, from the dealer?

The need for Audicare or even service at the dealer depends on what you can and are willing to do yourself. For the most part each of the 10,000 mile services are an oil change and a bunch of checks. There are a handful of things that need to be done at certain vehicle mileages but for the most part your 10,000 mile service are inspections. You can probably find an independent shop in your area that can do all of the work for a fraction of dealer cost.

Now if you have a warranty, even an aftermarket warranty you might need to have it dealer or at least ASC certified shop to perform the work. I do my own work and just recently traded out old A7 for a slightly used Maserati and got an aftermarket warranty with it. I can do some of the work myself if it’s something not covered by the warranty but I will need to take it to an ASC cert shop for oil changes to maintain the warranty.
