Hello, I posted a few days ago to a Facebook group asking about advice about an issue with my car.

I am looking to build a list of possible things to look into/inform a garage as a starting point to my possible errors.

Faults on dash and fault codes (with info) from 034 App:
    • 26474 [P0014] B CAMSHAFT POSITION (BANK1) TIMING OVER-ADVANCED OR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
    • 17895 [P12A3] FUEL RAIL PUMP CONTROL VALVE STUCK OPEN
    • 4511 [P0366] CAMSHAFT POS.SENSOR "B" CIRC. (BANK 1) RANGE PERFORMANCE

When I first got my ‘19, I had a similar issue.

It had only 1500 miles that I put on since new, and had the same issue on start up. But would go away after a restart.

It ended up being the exhaust cam actuator. Faulty from the factory. They couldn’t figure it out at first, but almost 3 weeks of trying to figure it out at the dealer, they finally did. And it’s been fine since then.

Hope this helps narrow the problem for you

So CWGD engine, EA839 3.0T. Bank 1 exhaust VVT and the HPFP. AVS (VVL) is on the intake cam, and not on the exhaust cam. VVT is on both cams. Just so happens the HPFP is driven by the bank 1 exhaust cam. Could be a problem managing the bank 1 exhaust cam is creating a problem managing the HPFP, which might be coming across as that error condition.

P12A3 is not documented in the workshop manual. P0014 is, sort of. Whoever is writing these manuals these days needs to be given some other task back at Audi. Seems to be saying actual differs from specified by at least 3° for at least 1.5-2.0 seconds. Your graph clearly supports that error trigger based on those data values. The two items to eval are the G300 B1E cam position sensor and the N318 B1E VVT actuator. I'd probably be looking at the VVT actuator first. Almost like it has no control, just full off and full on. But you don't have any DTC for the electrical management of the N319.

You don't provide a model year, so going to assume B9.0 (GP0). https://www.ilcats.ru/audi/?function...18&language=en
So you see it's an assembly of three items: solenoid (magnet) [27], control valve [26], and vane adjuster [24 for exhaust, 23 for intake]. The solenoid and control valve are the same for all four cams, the actuator is the same for both exhaust cams (but not the same as for the intake cams). So you could swap the actuator with the B2E, then the valve with either intake cam, and the solenoid with the other intake cam. Then see to which cam the error condition moves.

Or just assume you're in the same boat Esmin was in and replace the adjuster unit.

Thank you, that is great knowledge to know.

I will be giving my Audi S4 2018 B9 to my local mechanic to investigate the issue. You think it’s safe to rule out a wiring fault? I couldn’t see any issues where people had mentioned.

Any extra tips I can forward to him, to help or things to check for.
    Appreciate your help.
