RS7 performance AC Pressure Sensor location

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2016 RS7 Performance- Not finding much searching online so I’m coming for help here.

I need to replace the AC pressure sensor, I found that the A7 and S7 have it right inside the hood but it’s not there. I saw a RS4 post that has it behind the driver’s side headlight- would it be the same on mine?

I’m unable to find a diagram or anything as to where the AC pressure sensor is located.

Can anyone tell/show me where it is?

Thanks 09S5. I was able to find that diagram but it’s not correct as far as I’m seeing inside the front. I’m willing to remove the entire front bumper but want to confirm where it is exactly before I do. I already have the replacement sensor. See pics, A7s and S7s have it on the driver’s side but there’s an extra cooler in my front end where their sensor is and the sensor is not visible after removing the covering.

And a HVAC recovery unit, a bottle of R-134a, a vacuum pump and a set of HVAC gauges too, correct?

Hoping that you are aware of the tools needed to do something as simple as changing a sensor on a sealed and pressurized system. My son didn't and got a face full of 134 one time!

    Just checking!

    Cheers,

prety sure you can remove the sensor w/o recovering the R134, there's a spring valve were you screw the sensor

If it's on a Schrader Valve... then yes... a set of quick hands can loose a minimal amount.

That pic above doesn't look like it has a depressor installed though, so I would verify that it is a self sealing system before attempting the removal!

Here is the difference between a depressor and non-depressor attachment!

I don't see it in that sensor! Sensors with depressors usually have an offset port. but the pic is dead on, so it should be there and 2D just doesn't translate!

Here is a standard transducer with depressor. Not an absolute... but depressors are usually used on systems where regular servicing is needed and not generally on a sensor where a faulty reading could cause the system issues. It is Audi though...

I just replaced this same item on my S6. There is no concern re: refrigerant, system pressurization, spraying, etc. Once you get to the part, it is simple as unscrew old and replace. No worries.

Nice to know Audi thought ahead an put a Schrader Valve on it. Same basic design on my Volvo did not... I found out the hard way!!

Test it when fully installed with a little dish soap and spray bottle. Little refrigerant leaks are insidious!!

    Angry Wrong sensor size?

Hey everyone, thank you for the help. I am finally getting around to this today. I believe that the part number from the Audi website is wrong. Check out what I took off vs the one shipped by Audi….(not sure why it always rotates photos when uploaded). The one shipped by Audi is significantly smaller and the pressure point is different as well. The connector is correct and it does fit but there is no change in the AC temp. The correct part number is on the connector I took off so I’ll order that today and let everyone know how it goes!

Are you seeing a change in pressure in VCDS/OBD11?? Should be able to see it change from ATM (atmosphere) to static (~4BAR) to working pressures (15-18BAR).

On either new or old sensor? Yeah.... the depressor (pressure point) is important. I cannot tell you how many times I chased an issue to find the point was bent or simply not long enough to open the Schrader Vlave!

HVAC is it's own universe for sure!

    Cheers,
