    Good morning/afternoon all!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

I wanted to get your inputs on what you would “fair” price a completely stock 2018 RS3 with 45 - 50K on it? ( private sale )Condition of exterior is 8/10 and interior a 9/10?

    Thank you!

What option packages are on the car?

KBB.com shows $40k-$43k private party with 45,000 miles. They also show dealer and private party cars available for $40k-$48k in my area.

which makes sense, KBB is always a few grand high on real world values

Also check carmax and see what they'd give you, but I wouldn't recommend carvana. Carvana's been low balling hard as they try to dig themselves out of a hole.

I'd say give Carvana a shot, there's no commitment to get the quote. They gave me a ridiculously amazing offer on a 22 Volvo S60 T8 that I sold to them last November. It definitely varies by vehicle and location/market, but they shouldn't have given me as much as they did (actually right at the KBB trade-in value). All I cared is that the transaction cleared!

    Thank you all!

Yeah there’s a pretty big gap from trade in to dealer pricing so I agree private would be somewhere in the middle. I priced the car with Carvana a few times and they must have some algorithm that considers supply/searches etc.. as I got offers lower than higher a few days later.

Man this car is so hard to let go of and I don’t know what to tell myself so I can go through with a sale. Just can’t decide :(

You’re exactly right! Not too much out there that excites me. Was considering the Alfa Romero Gulia QV but don’t want to get into something that’s not reliable either…

It's really hard to replace an RS3 at that price point and be happy.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone say that KBB is priced HIGH, and that comes from being in the car business for 5+ years.

    Did you mean low?

Start at $48k. Take a look at what is for sale around you on other sites (CarGurus, Cars.com etc)

You can always take less than asking, you’re not going to get someone offering to pay more than asking.

High, meaning what KBB says you will get for trade in has always been ~$3K more than any dealer will give you.

Never used that website, that list was great. Seeing the 2018 @$52 after a 2020 model was a standout.

That's how I found mine. I set up an email alert in spring of 2022. I got a bunch of emails and finally the right one came in June 2022. Carvana had it listed. Only thing it had I didn't want was ACC, but I have learned to like it.

Either way, I hit the buy button and it was at my house in a couple weeks!

Autotemptest is a great website to look for a car.

Geez prices have really dropped out the last couple months huh?

I usually follow the market a little and last I checked we were all in the $50sK on the 8v.

I got a private sale offer for mine for 43K which I thought is fairly good. I do see a lot of dealers/private sellers stick to upper 40s though. Even in the next 5 years these will not go down below mid 30s. I’m following the f80 m3 market closely and it’s a good gauge.

    Thanks!!

I traded a 2018 RS3 to an Audi dealer in October of 2022 for $48k. The car had 27000 miles and worn out tires. They turned around and sold it 9 days later for $57000. This car cost me new $61500 with $4900 in options included. I did not lose much considering that I used it for a little over 4 years but I also left a few pricey mods in it worth at least $3500.

If I have to guess I would say in the mid $40's. Like at least $43 to $45k.
